unfailing and unconditional.

psalm52

It's still barely love month, so I think it's safe to say that writing about love is still an okay topic. Scratch that. Love is always an okay blogging topic, right?

Anyway, I'm really here to talk about unconditional love. And if I'm actually walking the walk instead of just talking the talk when it comes to love. It's easy to love those around us that we, well, actually love, right? But it can be pretty hard to love the people who get on my nerves. You know, the people who just strike the wrong chord with you or even certain family members sometimes.

I could say that I love my family, but it would be a lie come that time of the month. I could say that I love my teachers and peers, but we all have those days when we're grumpy or are "grumped" by those around us. I could say that I love God 100% of the time, but if I'm honest, there are times when my all just isn't there.

I know. A girl who loves Jesus doesn't always love Him with all of her heart. I think we can all gasp at that one. Either that, or scratch our heads in confusion.

But it's true. There are times when I question His plans. Or I don't appreciate where I am in life. Or when I'm mad that I didn't get what I wanted.

But part of loving Him and giving our hearts to Him means that we love Him unconditionally. 24/7. No matter the stage, struggle, triumph, or heartbreak we're experiencing. I mean, He did love us when we were still sinners. And He still loves us when we sin.

Did I mention He loves us when we have bad hair days, speed to work/school, and forget to pray before we eat? Yeah, sometimes I wonder how He does it.
psalm86
And then I remember. His love for us, is unfailing and unconditional. It's everlasting and always there for us to take. He doesn't just give a little bit of love, He gives His all to us. Even when we don't deserve it (or want it!).

So even though I'm not quite sure where this post is heading, I do know that His love for us real. And without it, I would be lost. And for that, I think He deserves a little more work from my part to love Him and those around me a little more.

  2. Aw girl this is such a beautiful post. So much trust in there :)

I can absolutely relate to not always loving Jesus with my whole heart. Heck, sometimes I run away from Him completely. And He is so faithful to ALWAYS accept me back with loving hearts and no condemnation.

But I agree, I want to start giving more work into my relationship with Him. Just because He extends unfailing love to me, does not mean I have the excuse to fail Him.

Love you girl :) Thanks for your truth and encouragement today!

    1. Oh, thank you! I definitely run away from Him a lot. It's a terrible habit of mine but it's something I do all too often when I'm scared or unsure about the plans He's made for me. Which is why I'm also so grateful for His unfailing love!

And I'm glad we're in the same boat! So grateful for you and your encouraging words. :)

  3. Fantastic post and i definitely needed to read this.
It is true, His love for us is unconditional but so often we go to him conditions and then expect things to just fall into place even though we commit basically nothing to Him.
It's a hard battle...one that i fail often, but praise GOD that He doesn't leave me of give up on me.

    1. Yes! Totally agree with you (aka totally guilty of doing that)! :) It is definitely a tough battle, which is why I'm so glad I have Him and His unfailing love and mercy. His love for me is SO much greater than what any thing or person can offer.

  5. God is really working in my heart right now on loving people who rub me the wrong way. I loved how this post just spoke to exactly where I am right now and how I'm trying to be more Christ like. :)

    1. He's been doing the same thing with my heart, too! It's so hard, right? That's why I'm so glad He's the best example of love for me to follow. :)
