THE GIRL BEHIND THE BLOG.

I think this post could also be titled the rambles and awkwardness of the girl behind this blog. Note that I wrote this blog because this does not apply to the other bloggers in this amazing link-up!

Anyway, I'm super excited to link-up with The Girl Behind the Blog with Ashley and Mackenzie today. Even though I was super nervous about this, it was a ton of fun to make. And by fun, I mean a lot more fun that I could have ever imagined. It was also a lot of fun to try and squeeze in this recording before everyone came home and heard me talking to myself.

So without further ado, the vlog:

And because I'm one of those people who believes there's something to learn from every life experience, here's what I learned from my first vlogging experience:

  • I say sorry a lot. Sorry about that.
  • I also ramble and go off on tangents. I know I do that in my blog posts, but didn't think that that was how I talked in real life, too!
  • If you caught me moving up and down a lot, it's because I was sitting on my exercise ball (I use a ball as my desk chair).
  • I am super grateful for the encouragement from my blogging friends for creating this. Little did they know what they were getting themselves into by asking me to join in this link-up!
  • I totally forgot to include my passion for baking and adoption...whoops! I'll have to squeeze that into another vlog/post someday.

And as if I didn't say it enough, thank you again for stopping by! It was such a treat to join in this link-up. Ashley and Mackenzie are such sweet and beautiful ladies and I know that this is one of those link-ups that truly encourages friendships and community.

That being said, I cannot wait to see your video and hear about your passions!

p.s. I strongly believe that movie thumbnails on Youtube were created with the sheer purpose of further embarrassing me. You'll just have to take me word for it that I honestly tried picking a better looking thumbnail on Youtube. Apparently they think this one was better.

  1. Thanks for visiting my blog! I hadn't watched your video yet so I was glad to check yours out! I loved hearing about your passion for kids and families! You have so much energy and joy :) And don't worry, mine was my first girl behind the blog vlog too and it was really embarrassing at first. I literally tried my video 7 or 8 times. You didn't look awkward don't worry!

    1. Thanks, girl! I'm so glad to have met you through this link-up, too! And I definitely felt awkward and embarrassed but I'm glad it didn't come across as such (at least as much as I felt!). :)

  2. You are precious. AND our vlogs are pretty much identical. :) :)

Let's go hiking someday so we can talk about Jesus, teaching, adoption, etc.

    1. Thanks, friend! And our vlogs are pretty much identical for a reason, I think! We're just so similar in our passions and I love that. Someday we'll go hiking and talk all about those things and more. I cannot wait for that day! :)

  3. Oh my, after reading your sweet comment I popped over to listen to your vlog and wow...my heart skipped a beat. I'm a high school teacher so am passionate about kids, education etc (but don't talk about it on my blog much because I try to keep that a little bit secret :P), I love, love, love hiking (and camping too), I am a dedicated 'family' person and also love photography but don't know much about it either.

ha ha, we should be friends :P

    1. I had NO idea you're a high school teacher! That honestly makes me love you and your blog even more (is that weird to say?). I get what you mean about keeping that part a little bit of a secret. For me, it's all about making sure what I'm saying is something that I'd be okay with future families and students knowing. That, and because I'm just not all that confident in sharing everything about me! :)

Anyway, we should/could/are totally friends in my book! I love meeting bloggers who share passions of mine and I love that this vlog has helped me find fellow hiking, family, and photography lovers!

  4. Kiki! I'm SOOOOOOO SO glad you linked up. You have been such an encouragement to me, and each of your comments on my blog has been such a joy. Your passion for encouragement truly is inspiring.
Passion for kids who need love - that's good girl.

    1. Girl, you're seriously an encouragement to me! AND you constantly challenge me to reflect on myself and my walk with God--so thank YOU!

And I never really considered myself an encourager before so thanks for that new identity. I really like it. Like a lot. :)

And that passion is a good one. Kids (and everyone for the matter) need love, no matter who they are!

  5. Hey girl! You did great for your first vlog! Thanks for the sweet comment you left me. I love kids too, I started college wanting to be a kindergarten teacher but then God changed my path a bit! So I have a soft spot for teachers and those who want to teach. Blessings!

    1. Thanks! I felt super self-conscious while making it and I may have been a little nervous upon hitting publish, but I'm grateful for all of the kind words ladies like you have left me!

And I love the path you were on (the teaching one--I'd love to teach kindergarten someday!) and the one you're on now! :)

  6. You did great Kiki! I love that your passion is education and kids! My husband is an elementary school teacher and I really enjoy hearing the stories he tells each day about his kids, teaching is something so special!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a sweet comment!

    1. Thank you! Teaching is definitely special, and that's so cool that you get to hear about those stories from your husband. I'm sure they're all quite funny and cute! :)

  7. I don't know how I didn't see this yesterday as I was looking through the videos! You are the cutest! So so glad to finally "see" you, friend! Loved hearing about your passions– I'm learning slowly to love being outdoors too. It's a work in progress, hah!

    1. How could you not see this one? :) But thank you, friend! It was quite a challenge for me to hit publish, but it was encouragement from fellow bloggers like you that got me to do it!

And I get what you mean about it being a work in progress. I hated it for years (and I still hate bugs and all those lovely little creepy crawlies that live outdoors), but I'm really starting to love it nowadays. Someday we'll have some outdoor adventure that includes chocolate, photography, and baking. Or something like that. :)

  9. I can hardly tell you how happy I am that you recorded a vlog! What I love is how you write + express yourself in written blog posts is very much how you are on camera (and surely in person): genuine, sweet, and humble.

    1. Well, thank YOU for the encouragement to record one! And that is so sweet of you--I never really thought I talked and wrote the same before, but this vlog kind of proved me wrong!

Honestly, I have no idea what to say after reading your words. You're so kind! :)

  10. You are so cute! Such a natural for a first time vlogger! I love your passion for teaching and children... the world needs more passionate teachers with awesome hearts out there. Glad you linked up!

    1. Oh, thanks! I'm not so sure I'd consider myself a natural (like you are!) but I'm glad you saw past my rambles and such. :)

  12. Aww I'm so glad I got to here your voice and see the girl behind the blog! You are so amazing. I liked how you put yourself off-centered in your video. Artsy. Also, I've been off in lalaland lately, but I love your new blog design and wow, how your blog has grown. That's so awesome!!

    1. It was actually an unintentional artsy thing--I hit record on my camera and then realized I was totally off-centered once I replayed it! :)

And thanks, you should totally link-up next month, I'd love to hear your voice and get to see you as well!

And thanks girl, I just made the new design a week or so ago, so you're not too far off in lalaland! And I'm glad you're back, too! :)

  13. Kiki! I'm at work so I can't turn it up loud and watch the whole thing...but I did watch the first small bit, just enough to get to "meet" your amazing self in action!! Not sure that I'd be brave enough to do something like this...maybe I'm just too boring! :D

    1. You HAVE (as in it's now mandatory, now) that you participate sometime! I was definitely not brave enough and it wasn't until I prayed and then hit publish that I felt so much better and braver about it all. It's weird that a vlog could be so intimidating, right?

And you're definitely not boring. Not boring at all, friend!

I need to do this next time! It's awesome listening to other bloggers!

    1. YES! You should totally do it next month! I'd love to hear your voice and get to know you a little better. It was such a fun adventure for me to try and I've met a lot of other bloggers through it as well! :)

    1. I know, isn't it? When I first heard about the Ashley's vlog link-up, I fell in love connecting written words with a face and voice. And that's when I knew that since I loved watching them so much I should probably join in, too.

I'm still catching up on blog reading, but I hope you linked up so I can watch yours! :)
