a day in the life?

A typical day for me doesn't really exist all that much anymore. It's not because my life is so busy and hectic, but rather, it's slow and unpredictable. One of the things that I miss most from college is the routine, the schedule, and the constant knowing of what comes next. During those years,  I lived and breathed school and work. Lectures and note-taking were my thing.

Nowadays, I find myself looking for that constant and craving routine. I find myself trying to make a schedule out of my slow days when I'm at home--something much easier said than done. I'm not trying to say that I don't appreciate this time off, because I do. I'm grateful that I can take a little time off and gather my thoughts. But it's hard for me to think of this as typical because I also don't want it to be. Does that make sense?

Anyway, this post turned out to be way deeper than I ever imagined. So while I go and try to make sense of all these deep thoughts, feel free to tell me what a typical day is for you.

And if you really want to know what's typical in my days these days, it's family, faith, and dog kisses. Oh, and some blogging + blog-reading, too.

  1. oh girl, I know what you mean!
    I loved my college routine.
My life is way different now than it was back then.
    Which is kinda bittersweet.
But life has its seasons, right?
Gotta take the good with the bad.

    PS
I used a similar faucet photo in my post today. =)

    1. So true and I'm so glad you get what I mean! Sometimes I feel so weird saying that I miss schedules and routines and while I know that I have more school ahead of me (and more routines and homework) it's still weird that I miss that.

And life definitely has different seasons--that's something that I've definitely learned lately!

p.s. I can't wait to read your post! I'm a little behind on reading on my blogs, but it will happen for sure sometime soon! :)

    1. It's actually my mom's cactus--she's definitely the green thumb in the family. :) And thanks, girl! That is such a sweet compliment about my photography.

Oh, and that dinner was SO good. Kinda wishing I could have more right now. :)

  5. I am loving the way you see beauty in such simple things. Like the faucet running! I mean- wow. Such a beautiful shot, and really such a gift we take for granted since so many live without it. You inspire me so much!

Also, be present where you are. The next stage of your life will come. Enjoy this gift from God as time to refuel. He will be doing something big before you know it.

And trust me, if that includes teaching- in a district- with standards- and crazy paperwork, you will NEED that rest time.

    1. Thank you! It really comes from doing all of those Ten on Ten sets--those have really helped me find the beauty in the ordinary. You should totally join in sometime! :) And yes, that photo is definitely a reminder of how blessed we are to have clean running water. That's definitely something I take for granted all too often!

Being present is something that I definitely struggle with--especially because I think all of my excitement tends to get me a little carried away. But I know for a fact that I definitely will need all the rest time I can get! All of that future paperwork sounds overwhelming and tiring already! :)

  7. Ah, girl...losing routine is hard, isn't it?? I don't like crazy busy, but I like constants in my life. A lot. :) Why not plan a few adventures for your down time?

    1. Yes, it is! It's just another one of those little changes that I'm still getting used to. I definitely should plan some adventures! I don't think I could realistically road trip down to see you (but I wish I could!) but little adventures sound like the best remedy to me. :) Thanks, girl!

  8. yes!!! that is what is so hard after the rush. you finally have "days off" but you miss the routine and grasp for a full time job to take up your days. ENJOY this time. the Lord has given you time to rest, be, dream. the grass is always greener on the other side... it is green where you water it. water it here. these days are a blessing!

    1. So glad you understand and you definitely described it better than I could! I so easily get caught up in what's coming next and don't realize that it's really only been a little over a month since I graduated. But yes, I will definitely focus on enjoying this time. Thank for the reminder that it's okay to rest and enjoy this off-time. They are most definitely a blessing. :)

  9. Totally relate to this! "One of the things that I miss most from college is the routine, the schedule, and the constant knowing of what comes next."

Even though I am not much of a routine person, I did like the certainty that college provided for sure. It's a luxury to have time off, but the complete freedom can also be daunting, for sure.

    1. I'm glad you can relate! Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who misses that part of college. :)

And I couldn't have put what you wrote better--I love the freedom that I have now, but it's such a foreign concept to me!

  10. I remember this struggle right when i got out of college, CRAVING the routine.
I have one now (m-f 830-5 job woot not) and i wish it was something different, but you take what you can get right!
I would spend the time you have no, studying God's Word, brushing up on crafts/hobbies you've wanted to try, etc.
    :)

    1. Yes, you definitely take what you can get. :) What do you do, by the way? I don't think you've ever told me (and if you did, I obviously forgot, so I apologize!).

And that's exactly what I've been doing! Finally tackling a few of those pins that I've pinned and saved to-do for ages now. :)
