WORD LIMIT: 250 WORDS.

photo
taking photos since before I can even remember.

I was born in the sunny state of California. My mom likes to tell me that my dad sped through lights just to get her to the hospital in time. I may call the Golden State my birthplace, but I like to think my life story begins four years later, when my family moved up to the Pacific Northwest. On the day we arrived, my dad (who moved up earlier for work) filled the house with pink balloons to welcome us home. I grew up and still live at this home to this day. It's where I learned to ride a bike, made lifelong friendships, and babysat my younger sister and neighbors. It's where I fell in love with Jesus Christ, cried through singleness woes, and played the viola until calluses formed on my fingertips. It's also the home I moved back to after battling homesickness in the college dorms. They say home is where the heart is, and that’s something I wholeheartedly believe to this day.

Now that I'm done with college, I find myself wondering what comes next. Even though my future is confidently placed in His hands, I still dream and worry about what comes next. I want to teach, I want to fall in love, and I want to have kids. Someday, that is. But right now, my life is good. I've got what I need—not to be confused with what I want—and with that, I choose joy and I choose to be content.

And that, friends, is my life story written in exactly 250 words.

Want to know why I limited my life story to 250 words?

Well, today, and everyday (I hope! Let's not jinx anything quite yet) for the rest of this month, I'm going to link up with Jenny of Story of My Life + her Blog Every Day in May challenge. Through this month-long challenge, she hopes to help us bloggers break that "perfect blog post" mindset. I for one, struggle with this on a daily basis so this is going to be a great challenge to me as a blogger, writer, and girl in need of a challenge. I may not post every day, but I'm going to push myself to write everyday. It may not be published in time for you to read it first thing in the morning, but it'll get published and I hope to finish this challenge off strong.

Help keep me accountable and join in, won't you?

p.s. Thanks to this girl for telling me about this challenge!

  4. Oh wow. My eyes are drawn to the Fisher Price toy in the background of the picture. Haven't thought of those three-wheeled wonders in years. Wow.

And this is a great idea! Yeeks, I honestly don't know if I could do 250 word count posts! Good luck!

    1. Honestly, I didn't even realize what that was until you mentioned it! I didn't even know my family owned one of those until now. Proves how great my memory is/was, doesn't it? :)

And this really is a great idea, I'd love it if you joined in, too! The prompts are all REALLY good and it really works for any and all bloggers. But I think this is the only post with a word count--thank goodness for a wordy girl like me!

    1. It's definitely going to be hard (especially on the weekends when I'm used to taking a break from it all!), but I think it'll be a good challenge for me and it'll really help break my writer's block too. At least, I sure hope it will! :)

    1. I know, I love reading these stories! It gives me a peek into the past--something that I too often forget to write about on my blog! And I'll email you where I live, I don't like sharing it on my blog for privacy's sake! But it'd definitely be fun to meet sometime! :)

    1. I'm glad I am, too! :) It's actually been a really great challenge and I love that I don't have to come up with a topic, all I have to do is write on it. It's not too late for you to join up!

And thanks! I actually recently re-discovered this photo and I think it captured that budding photographer in me. :)

  10. When reading your story, I felt like I was glancing at the back of a book cover, leaving me interested to read and know more! The Lord is writing something beautiful + unique just for you, Kiki. Don't doubt that for a second! Can't wait to see how He pours vision upon you and flips new pages of this life story!

    1. Seriously? Girl, that is the biggest compliment ever! I kept thinking that you guys would find my story boring because it's basically everything I've ever written about on my blog condensed in 250 words--so I'm glad you think so!

God definitely has amazing plans for me in store. I just pray for the patience to wait as He presents them to me in His time!

And the same goes for you, I love love love hearing about all that God's doing in your life and in your heart!!
