THE CIRCLE: SUMMER RECAPS + BUCKET LIST CHECK-IN.

It's unfortunate, really. Summer is wrapping up (please don't let it be so!) and I'm sad about losing sunshine, waking up when I want to, and staying up late curled up in bed with a good book. But, when I look back on the past ninety days or so, I've realized just how many memories I've made this summer. And that's exactly what this month's The Circle topic is.

But first, let me introduce you to this month's co-host:

Julie

Julie is not only a wonderful + encouraging blogger friend of mine, but my first official blogging friend, too. I'm not sure who found who, but I truly cherish our long distance friendship that I hope will someday be not-so-distant. Girl, come visit me, pretty please!

But I digress. This month, we're sharing our summer recaps and a bucket list check-in. In June, Angela and I shared our summer bucket lists and I loved reading your lists, too. This month, we're looking back at those bucket lists and seeing what we can check off, what we didn't include but accomplished anyway, and what we're going to add to our fall bucket lists. So here goes:

august2013

Go to the beach. This was at the top of my bucket list and I'm so glad that I made it happen. Not only did my family get to go on a little beach weekend getaway, but we also got to take a few daytrips to the Coast, too. Sure, it was windy and the water was too cold, but the memories made and the photos taken are

Re-paint my room. This one is sad, but true. Never got to this one, but am including it to my fall bucket list just in case I get a chance to add a lovely shade of paint to my crazy purple walls next month. Finger's crossed!

Schedule more photoshoots. Sorta. I scheduled one but our schedules didn't match up, so it's been put on hold for the time being. And for all my fellow dog lovers, I also got to take a few photos of my dog and some of his neighbor dog buddies together, so that counts, right?

Read more books. This is another fave that I'm glad I got to cross off. While I'm not a speed reader (I'm actually one of those girls who likes to savor and enjoy each book and will purposefully make myself stop reading so I can enjoy the book a little bit longer). This summer I read and enjoyed One Thousand Gifts, part of The Help, Sisterhood Everlasting, Bloom, Bittersweet, and a wonderful singleness book that I'll be blogging about soon!

Send letters. So glad I got to make this one come true, too. I'm officially penpals with Megan and I couldn't have asked for a better penpal to write to and receive good old snail mail from. So you guys have pen pals? I'm all for adding to my pen pal list!

Re-watch a favorite television series. So sad that I never got a chance to re-watch Alias or 24, but I did discover Graceland and am thinking about starting Gilmore Girls someday, too. Oh, and I also learned that I have some fellow Jack Bauer fans so that pretty much makes up for this one.

What wasn't included but was accomplished anyway: Berry picking, monthly thrifting trips with my sister, playing viola, running, ice-cream making, and lots of sleeping in. Yep, I did just include sleeping in.

So now's the fun part! I want to know what you did this summer. Did you complete everything on your bucket list? Did you go on vacation, travel someplace new? Meet a blog friend in real life? Blog about it and link up below:

The fine print: To join-in, share about your summer, grab a button (add it to your post or sidebar), and then check out how everyone else is spending/spent their summer. Can't wait to see what you've been up to lately!

    1. Wait, you watched Alias? Girl, we have got to have a TV show marathon together someday. :) But yes, I loved Sydney (and Michael Vaughn...) and I think I watched it the summer before I started 24. Definitely a great show!

    1. It just came into my library (I put it on hold) so I will start watching it! I love Parenthood, so I figured watching another show with Lauren Graham has to be good. :)

And well, I kinda cheated with my list because I did things I knew would be accomplished--but I still have lots of other things that I added since our bucket list posts so I still have lots to do before summer officially ends!

  3. We are seriously going to make our friendship a reality someday! I so wish I could come visit like right now! Your summer sounds so lovely, I'm sad I didn't get a chance to go berry picking. There's always apples in the fall, right? And I would love to be your pen pal – I love love love snail mail!

Thanks again for letting me co-host with ya! So much fun, girl. Can't wait for our next time!

    1. YES, we will. Someday soon, I hope!

Apple picking sounds like fun to me! I'm a huge fruit-lover, so that totally counts in my book. That sounds like something to add to the fall bucket list!

And let's exchange addresses! I really want to do this penpal thing and since becoming penpals with Megan, I want to do it with other bloggers, too!

  4. You did so well on your bucket list, dear! With such a crazy summer, Nate and I haven't gotten much done... We're getting 2 things marked off our bucket list this weekend hopefully. Summer isn't done yet so we're still going! ;-)

    1. Well, I did purposefully include things on my bucket list that I knew would get done (i.e. trips to the beach), but there are definitely other things I added to my list later on that are still yet to be accomplished! So thank goodness summer's not officially over yet! I hope you and Nate get to cross off a few more things soon! :)

    1. Thanks, girl! I did put things on my list that I knew I would get done though--so some might consider that cheating. :)

And I'm glad you loved Bittersweet! I am in love with Shauna's writing and that book did not disappoint!

    2. lol. well you did good, none the less :)
Yes me too, I read bread and wine too. That was really good! You should definitely check it out, if you haven't read it already.

    3. I haven't read that one yet! But it's on my list of to-reads. I'm glad you liked it though--that makes me want to get my hands on it even more now. :)

  6. Love those books you read - I've read a couple but heard all of them are good! What did you think of the Help and Sisterhood Everlasting? I read Sisterhood Everlasting earlier this year and I thought it was a perfect conclusion to a teenage classic!

    1. They were all good reads! I just started the Help again (never got to finish it because of school last year) and I'm loving it! I love quick + original reads so this one definitely fits that description and I loved the movie so I know it's got to be good! Did you like it?

And I definitely agree with you on Sisterhood Everlasting--it was a great conclusion to the series! I loved every page of it. :)

  8. GILMORE GIRLS! Yes! Easily one of my Top 5 favorite TV shows. It is so witty and hilarious. I hope you like it!

Also, I need to read Sisterhood Everlasting! I loved that series and totally keep forgetting that it is out! Adding it to my "Wish List." And can't wait to hear about this singleness book. I might be adding that one as well. :)

    1. Girl, we have so many TV show loves in common--do you have any other faves that we might share? :) I just started watching the first season of Gilmore Girls this weekend and have loved every episode. Let's just say I've been watching it whenever I get the chance!

And you really should read that book! I loved that series as well and it was definitely a good book (is it weird for me to say that I'm a little sad it's over now?).

I will definitely write on the singleness book I read, too! I'm adding it to this week's to-do list right now. :)

    2. Gilmore Girls is amazingly witty. All us girls can't get enough of it. Last summer, my mom and I spent the summer watching the entire series. So much fun!!!

    3. I'm almost through with the first season of Gilmore Girls and couldn't agree with you more--it really is witty! I'm especially loving Lorelai and Emily's relationship. I can't wait to see what happens as the season progress!

And I love that you watched it with your mom! My mom and I love watching TV together (well, my whole family, really). We've loved Parenthood as of late and have also watched 24 together, too. :)
