A GOOD PHOTO.

bwsunset
Photography takes my breath away. Edit: good photography takes my breath away. There's something about a stunning photo that leaves me speechless. Once I spot one (which is quite often), I'll usually go on a crazy pinning spree, pinning away at a photographer's blog, with hopes that those few clicks will somehow make me a better photographer in return. No such luck yet.

But I digress. There's something about photography that doesn't confuse me, but rather, bewilders me--but in a good way. It grabs my attention and a good photo won't let me turn away. To tell you the truth, I could spend hours looking at gorgeous photos. It doesn't matter if I know the people on either side of the lens. It doesn't matter if they're photos taken in my hometown or in a country countless miles away. If it's a good photo, it's got my attention (and my heart).

A good photo captures emotion, has warm rich lighting, is not forced but delicately captured. A good photo is accompanied by beautiful music, like this song or this song and a warm blanket. A good photo is just that, a photo; taken to savor and document one little moment in time.

A good photo is worth a million words.

What do you like about photography? What constitutes a good photo to you? Who are your favorite photographers? Let's talk photography, okay?

Oh, and in case you're in the mood to find some stunning photos, here are a few of my favorite photographers:
Kenzie Kate
Dylan & Sara
The Schultzes
Ellie Be
Lucia Marie (shout out to Madison for recommending her blog!)
Hannah Nicole
Tyler Branch
Abi Porter
Jane Mabel

  1. Could not agree more! I have found myself speechless so many times after seeing a perfectly done photo. It's just one of the small joys in life! Can't wait to check out those photographers – I'm sure it'll be another great procrastination method for me ;)

  2. I constantly pin a billion pictures....Not that it makes them mine (I wish it did! haha) but at least it gives me something to work towards. I'm been lucky enough to be a model for the past 6 years and I've worked alongside some fantastic photographers, and seeing myself through their lens is pretty cool. I recently picked up film photography, and Its fun to have something to play around with.

    1. Pinterest is definitely a great way to be inspired! I've found it's been a great way for me to learn new things, try new things, and have goals to work towards. :)

I've never really thought about being on the other side of the lens, so it's cool to hear about your experiences as a model. Seeing yourself on the other side of the lens would definitely be inspiration as well!

And I love film photography. I still love digital, but film is where I first found my love for photography, so it'll always have a spot in my heart.

    1. I didn't know photography was your major--that's cool! You're right, too, photography definitely speaks to me on many levels. It's crazy how one photo could do that. :)

I'll look up Julie later today, thanks for the recommendation!

  4. Downt the photo rabbit hole I go! I'm not sure I could put into words how I feel about photography, but you did an awesome job!

Two of my all time favorite photographers:
    We are the Parsons: http://wearethebloggers.com/
    Wildflowers Photography: http://wildflowersphotos.com/blog/

We are the Parsons take the cake every time. They tell stories with their images that have brought me to tears, no joke. I also love love love their "Don't Give Up Project."

  6. Can I just say how much I absolutely love your blog? I love the way you write, and how authentic you are. I've just been scrolling through your posts, loving each one I've come across. I can honestly say I am a new devout reader. I love your writing, and your photos.

And also, I love photography too! I'm sort of young, but I really like wedding photography for some reason. Three of my favorites are:

    Jennefer Wilson: http://jenneferwilson.com/
    Brooke Courtney Photography: http://www.brookecourtney.com/blogs/
    Benj Haisch: http://www.benjhaisch.com/blog/

On Brooke Courtney Photography, Liz's most recent shoot (Sep. 23, 2013) is one of my FAVORITES.

Thanks for writing such a lovely blog!

    1. Hi, Hannah!

Wow, thank you so much! It was such a sweet surprise to read this comment. Seriously, sweet. :) I so want to thank you for finding my writing voice to be authentic, too. That is one of my biggest goals with my blog. I want to be real, I want to be honest, and I want to shine His light.

Secondly, thank you for the compliments on my photography! I love meeting fellow photographers who share my love for cameras and taking way too many photos. I'm excited to visit your blog!

Lastly, wow, you have such a great eye for finding great photographers! I'm sure I've seen some of their work on Pinterest before, but I am seriously loving each of their blogs and portfolios! I can't wait to spend more time on their blogs, too.

Thanks again for the sweet comment! I'm excited to get to know you better. :)

    1. I hope you like them! They're all super amazing in my opinion and I always love finding new photographers. Speaking of which, why wouldn't I give you the shout out? One of my pet peeves is when people don't give credit where credit is due so I try my hardest to give shoutouts to my blogging friends.

But I digress, you, my friend, deserved that shout out! Without it, I never would have found that blog!
