ON WHERE I'M FROM.

day one
that's me with the cheesy grin (on the right).

I'm just a small town girl, living in a lonely world.

Okay, so only half of that statement is true, but I couldn't help but state those lyrics from Journey's song. It's true though, I am a small town girl. While I enjoy taking a peek into city life every now and then, I know that that's not who I am. I come from a town where people greet each other with cheerful "hello's" and "good morning's." I come from quiet neighborhoods where kids can play on the streets without worrying about cars. And I come from a city where people remember me from when I was this little.

I also come from rice-eating ancestors who physically brought me to where I am today. I come from a close-knit immediate family--the heart and soul of who I am. I come from a family that enjoys spending time together, hiking, shopping, eating, and movie-watching together. I come from a family who are more like best friends.

I come from love and hope and faith and trust. Things I've been surrounded with but am still working on in myself each and everyday. I come from prayers before dinner, television before bed, and reading before the lights go out. I come from a small town, a close family, and a cozy home.

But most importantly, I come from the one and only Creator who created this world. This universe, this state, this city, and this home that I live in. Now that's where I come from.

Psst...today--and hopefully for the rest of this month--I'll be linking up and joining Jenni's Blogtember challenge. Hope to see you there!

    1. It's funny, because I just found this photo while looking through an old family album--I honestly don't remember where/when it was taken!

And yes, those ancestors are where it all started, my love for rice and all. :)

  5. I am praying for your challenge of Blogtember. You'll do great! Especially with posts like this. Love the progression of the "where I come from" theme. It is so awesome that we all have identity and a true resting-place with our Creator. ~ Julie

    1. Thank you, Julie! I'm really unsure about tomorrow's prompt, but I know that God will put the words that He wants me to type when the time comes.

And you are so right--having my identity firmly placed in Him is the most important place to come from! :)

  6. Oh, girl, you know I love this!! This is SO my family, too! I know there are lots of families that are close with each other, but I can't help but suspect that my family is like your's, too - doing love, life and laughter a whole lot deeper than the average home.

    I love it. :)

    1. I'm thinking we have very similar families as well! Even though I don't have as many siblings as you do, I feel like our families have a lot in common--one of the many reasons why I can so easily relate to you!

And I agree, I think there are a lot of close families, but there aren't too many families I know of who really and genuinely love spending time together. It's a blessing (sometimes in disguise, though!). :)

p.s. I've missed you around blogworld, girl! How have you been?
