TO A T (OR AN I, S, F, OR J).

personality
Today's Blogtember prompt: Take this short personality test and respond to your results.

I don't know about you, but I was a little skeptical of the Myers-Briggs test. I've taken it once or twice before, seen the four letters that I'm supposed to fit into, and that was that. Too many letters that I had no idea (nor the interest) in finding out what they meant and how they fit into my life.

Re-taking the test for this prompt, however, changed every idea I once had about it. After taking the short (and easy!) test, I discovered that I am an ISFJ. And when I say I am, I should really say I know and truly believe that I am.

Once I started reading all of the many, many pages on ISFJ's, I was completely amazed and surprised by just how easily I fit into this personality type. From the personality types, to the career possibilities, and even the strengths and weaknesses, I found myself nodding my head and getting more and more excited at how perfectly four little letters could describe me.

It's funny, because when I was growing up, I felt like I was the only introvert, the only ISFJ in my school. I never felt like I fit in and I never felt like there was anyone else just like me (okay, so I still find myself thinking that way). So to discover that I'm an ISFJ and that there are others out there just like me, well, let's just say it's a comforting and exciting revelation-of-sorts.

Let's just say I'm still excited to have found where I fit in and am loving my new identity as an ISFJ.

So yes, I am quiet, I take commitments seriously, I want to teach, I don't have hundreds of friends, I like interior design, I'm not too great at branching out, I love serving, and I dislike conflict and criticism. If you ask me, I think ISFJ is a pretty good fit.

So tell me, have you taken the Myers-Briggs test before? Are there any other IFSJ's out there? If not, what personality type are you? Do you feel like it's a good fit?

  1. I'm also an ISFJ! Although I just don't know how to feel about this test. I didn't quite know how to answer all the questions and I just don't know for sure if this describes me to a T. I'm glad you found your right personality type, though! : )

    1. How cool! It's funny, I was thinking the same thing when I was taking the test--if I answered them "correctly" or not and if it would truly match up with how I identify myself.

Even if you don't fully identify with an ISFJ, I still love that we have that in common! :)

  3. ISFJ here too!! I also found it so accurate, it was scary and crazy and cool!!
I hate confrontations, I have a few, close friends, loyalty is everything. My family is the center of my life. I'm bad at delegating and sometimes trying new things!!

    ISFJ buddies!! yay!!

    1. Yay for another ISFJ! Isn't it crazy how accurate something like this could be? It was almost a little too weird at first. :) I'm with you, family and close friends are super important to me, too.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  5. I'm not doing the blog thing, but I happen to know I'm an infj. They're similar- not sure what the differences are. But your comment on feeling like the only introvert in the world is something I can completely relate to. Felt that way growing up- and still feel that way when I'm in new situations (like starting at a new school!) Honestly, I think had I not done sorority/rush thing in college I would have no idea how to begin small talk!

    1. Wow, we're really close! I, also, don't know much about the other personality types but that's cool that we seem to have a lot in common! And you don't know how comforting it is to know that there are others who feel/felt the same way! Whenever I'm in a new situation, I'm the exact same way. New environments just take a few extra minutes for me to get used to. And small talk--let's just say I'm STILL trying to master that one! :)

  6. I took this for a class last year and it was surprisingly accurate! I think I was a similar personality type to you! Probably why we get along so well, right? ;)

PS- I've totally missed reading your blog! Can't wait to catch up a little bit :)

    1. I know, I was surprised at how accurate something like this could be--who would have known? And yep, I'm pretty sure that's exactly the reason why we get along so well!

p.s. This is weird, but I was *just* thinking that I should email you! I hope you're doing well, friend! I've missed you around the blogging world! :)

  7. Whenever I take these tests, I'm always either INFJ or INTJ. I always flip-flop between "feeling" and "thinking". I kinda hate that I didn't link up for this day of Blogtember, but I definitely see this as a post in the near future. :) It's crazy to me how much they do make sense after studying it a little deeper. I like psychology, so it's always interesting to me.

    1. Girl, there's still time to link up! But either way, I'm excited to read that post of yours. :)

And I'm the same--even though it wasn't my major, psychology is definitely really interesting.

  8. I'm quite relieved that there's a fair few ISFJs out there too. Although I disagreed with some of my results. It was interesting to learn all about it though.

    1. It's a relief to me, too! I loved learning about the ISFJ personality type and was so surprised to see how many of adjectives and traits that I fit under! I know a lot of people who don't fit under just one type, though, so you're not alone!

Thanks for stopping by! I love meeting fellow ISFJ's. :)

  9. I am an INFJ--close! :) I used to be an extrovert but it's so strange to see how things have changed based on my season of life.

    1. Ooh, that is really close! I think that's gotta be one of the many reasons why we have so much in common and are friends! :) And I've never really thought about my personality changing with each season of life--but it's so true and I think it has! :)

  10. I am an ENFJ. married to an ISFJ!! hey hey! (ps: according to the Harry Potter Myers Briggs you are Nevil Longbottom!!) In my personality type is says that i love personality tests and boy is that right!! lol. The Myers Briggs has been my all time favorite personality test and it has been really great to see how Bruce and I mix together - our strengths and our weaknesses. It makes sense how sometimes we really cannot understand each other - our brains work differently and we have to adjust so that the other person can understand us. it is so cool

    1. That's so cool! I may not by an ENFJ, but I definitely love personality tests as well (I took them like crazy when I was in middle/high school). :) I love that both you and Bruce have used the Myers Briggs test to better understand each other and even yourselves--that is a great idea and one I'll definitely remember if/when I get married! :)
