BITS AND PIECES.

flowers
the loveliest of lovely flowers from my even lovelier friend, Megan!

Happy Friday, friends! Life's been crazy lately but I got to meet the preschoolers this week and I'm super excited to see them again in a few days. Although now that I think about it, a weekend to relax and sleep in also sounds good right about now, too!

Anyway, here's to the weekend and here's to another edition of bits and pieces!

This is so me.

I've been catching up on all my new fall TV shows. Having some TV shows to come home and well, veg out with? A-mazing to say the least. As lame as this may sound, a TV night in is the best kind of date ever for an introvert like me. So tell me, what's your fave new/returning fall show of the year?

Just some cute cake toppers.

These flats are way too pretty to wear (especially in this rainy weather we've had lately!).

And more free fonts!

Make the most of each day. This week has flown by (quite literally) so this was the exact post I needed to read.

This dog costume for Halloween is just too cute.

This mac + cheese looks delicious.

And this is the best party favor idea ever.

Reason 5429 why I love my job (yeah, be prepared to get tired of me talking about my job), I get to clean and organize the classroom as I see fit. That means I get to move furniture, take out unused supplies, and organize like crazy. Yep, best job ever.

A sweet home tour.

10 DIY hair accessories.

And 10 Halloween candy corn crafts.

Do you guys have Facebook pages for your blog? I've thought (briefly) about it but always think I worry it'll be a waste of time for both of us--or in your case, a waste of a "like"--because I would likely forget to update or share stuff on it. I guess what I'm saying is that sometimes, for me, less is more. Especially when it comes to time spent on social media networks.

Lessons from a blackberry--loved this analogy!

This post is simply beautiful.

A free printable + donuts + birthday cards = a super cute link to check out.

This pumpkin spice bread is sooo pretty, don't you think?

p.s. Congrats to Susannah for winning the Lilla Rose Giveaway! Thanks to everyone who entered!

  1. I do not have a FB page for my blog. My reason is because I always post the link to my personal page (feel free to add me if you'd like!). I have feeling I have a lot of readers that would not "like" a page just for my blog and therefore would begin missing the updates and stop reading. But keeping it on my personal page has them reading. And I have lots of fun conversations with friends there. But a page just for the blog... yes... less is more. :) I just keep everything together.

    1. I agree with you! I actually hardly ever post links to my blog on my FB page just because I don't really use FB all that much anymore and I think that an additional page would just be too much to keep up with and it would hardly be updated, too. :)

p.s. I added you on FB! I love your profile pic!

  2. On Quiet People Have the Loudest Minds: I think I need to hang that in my office. My husband can always tell when my mind is racing. I have an expression on my face which immediately prompts him to tell me to be quiet. And I know, even without talking, he means I need to shut off my mind because it is 2 in the morning and I need to get up in 4 hours.

On Facebook: I have a page, but I don't really do anything with it besides share facebook posts. As a personal blogger who isn't really offering a service or a product, I'm not sure what else to do. I guess I could engage all 17 followers in questions that may steer future blog posts. Not sure ha. So really, I guess it's there in case I somehow find a use for it, but for now, it's pretty much unused.

On your new job: Yes, get some rest this weekend! While still trying to grow my photography business, I'm a nanny during the working hours of the week. I was super pumped to start and I was constantly trolling the internet for things to do with the kids. Now, I'm exhausted haha. We definitely have good days, but there's also days where I'm seriously thinking, "Forget this. I'm going to go have my OWN awesome babies." I only care for 2 children, can't imagine a whole class of them!! So inspired and impressed with you for serving children in this way! :)

    1. You should! My mind is pretty much always running. Either thinking about the day or thinking about tomorrow or just thinking in general. :) I love how your husband can read you so well and knows exactly what you need, too. Even though we haven't met and I don't know too much about your husband, I do know that you two are such a cute couple!

I love that you have it there just in case. I honestly think that would be the only reason why I created one to begin with. At the moment I don't think I could make the time to update one and I think people would just check my blog if they wanted to (without having to check FB to see it). Anyway, I agree with you and I wanted to thank you for your input! :)

Thanks, girl! I'm definitely going to rest up this weekend. I had no idea you're a nanny! I babysit for two families right now and did during my time off from school and work and loved it. It's definitely exhausting, though! I took care of four kiddos (in each family) and then now with 20 kiddos, let's just say I'm hoping I'm ready. Fortunately, I've worked there before so I'm hoping it'll all come easier as time goes on!

    1. Haha, love your reactions to all of these things. Love them.

I also love your thoughts on FB pages. Would it be worth it? I'm really not sure either! Right now, I feel like people who want to read my blog would just come visit it, not check their FB to be reminded of a new post, you know? :)

  5. Home tour--loved it!
We have a FB page for the Quiet Place, and we like it cause we can share things we find with our readers and update our readers on what's happening on our blog, plus some people only follow through facebook, so that's how they read our posts and stuff. So for us, it's been good. I don't have one for my other blog, but i am thinking of getting one.
those cake toppers are the cutest!
and the doughnut party favors, look so good!
    The pumpkin bread--looks good too!
Glad you are loving your job! :)

  7. So excited for you and your new job! I actually have just signed up to volunteer at my local school--I am pretty excited about it!

Those lace shoes are the cutest, but it's hard to have white shoes in rainy Oregon...definitely learned that lesson a couple times. I am obsessssed with fonts! So fun to find new ones! That mac and cheese looks so amazing! I need to run to the store like NOW. Those little donuts are the cutest, as well as the card! Have you seen my post about the baby shower I threw? It was a brunch theme with a donut invite and my favorite thing were the donut hole and fruit kabobs. Seems right up your alley...it was right up mine! :)

    1. Aw, I'm excited for you, girl! That sounds like such a fun opportunity and a great chance to get your kid fix without actually having one. :)

Haha, that's funny what you said about rain and pretty lace/light-colored shoes. I see so many people with white Converse or light-colored TOMS and I feel like asking them how they keep them so nice all the time because I definitely cannot!

And I did see your baby shower brunch, I somehow missed it but just read it yesterday and LOVED those kabobs and all of the little baby-themed details you came up with. I especially loved those mini waffles, pancakes, and quiches. They looked too cute! :)

  8. Those ballet flats are so pretty! But, you are totally right. They would hardly last in the rainy weather we also get. I want them anyways! haha

I LOVE you for passing on those free fonts. Those are some good ones! You = the best. :)

That dog costume is hilarious. My dog would probably try to eat it all...or anything I put him in. ha

On that house tour: There was the wall map printed up and divided into different frames. LOVE. I'm obsessed with maps, so obviously. :)

Those were some great DIY Hair Accessories, especially the elastics because they can be expensive. And the headbands. I love headbands.

    1. I know, right? Even though they are sooo pretty, if I actually made/owned a pair, they would probably never be worn in fear of having them get gross and muddy. :)

I loved the map, too! I especially loved how they were put into multiple frames.

And I'm so glad you liked the links! It's always fun for me to find that there are other people who share my love for fonts, and other fun things I find online.

      Have a great weekend!

  9. I love when Fall shows come around. Some of my favorite returning ones are: Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Homeland, and New Girl and some of my favorite new Fall shows are Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hostages. What about you Kiki?

    1. Me, too! Not only does fall bring about lovely weather, pumpkins, and holidays, but TV, too! As for me, I love watching Parenthood as well as Hawaii Five-0. I have yet to see Homeland but am hoping to start it sometime and I'm behind on New Girl (I was actually just about to watch it!), too. I actually just started watching Hostages and I'm excited to see where they take it. There are so many TV shows and too little time to watch! :)

Hope you're having a great weekend so far!

  10. 1. I'm officially a Pinterest follower after I saw your beautiful quote pin
    2. thank you for mentioning the lessons of the blackberry! God has taught me a lot through His beautiful creation and it's so awesome when I hear others also learn this way. I love the John Edwards quote "Nature is God's greatest evangelist." So true, right? Nature shouts His glory!
    3. Those lacey flats scream Wedding Shoes! They are so perfect
    4. LOVED the chia dog!

And girl, I LOVED LOVED LOVED that post. It was pretty much written just for me. God definitely teaches us through His creation and I just loved your analogy.

I know, right? The lace was so pretty and they really would be perfect for a wedding (with dry weather, of course!).
