THE CIRCLE: OCTOBER 2013 | 2 TRUTHS AND A LIE.

I'm super excited for this month's The Circle link-up. Not only do we have a great (and fun!) topic, but I have an amazing blogging friend to co-host it, too!

popup-1
my name is elizabeth - i am a wife, a sister, a daughter, and a friend. i am married to a strong, tall, blonde, and handsome man that makes me laugh every day. we live in a little home we bought at the base of Pikes Peak in the Colorado Rockies. i love people, Disney, coffee, adventures, Harry Potter, glitter, and all things Colorado (go Broncos!). most of all, i love the Lord, my sweet Savior. i value authentic relationships, true community, and healthy living. Oak + Oats was born out of a desire to create a place that is focused on being rooted and nourished in Truth. this place focuses on the lovely things - like summer adventures, beautiful places, pretty outfits, fall comforts, handmade goodies, heart matters, and Christmas dreams. this is a place to learn & grow - to swing from the tree branches and eat whole grains.

Elizabeth is like a blogging big sister to me. She reached out and invited me to participate in a group giveaway--where she so kindly answered all of my stupid questions regarding the details for those things!--and has since encouraged, prayed for, and shined His light for me. She's amazing and if you don't read her blog, you need to. Like really need to.

Anyway, this month's topic is one I think you'll all want to join in on. It's pretty easy post writing-wise and it's also a really fun one to be a part of. Not only do we get to learn new things about each other but we also get to have fun while doing it--a win-win situation, right?

So this month we're playing 2 Truths and a Lie. If you've never played, simply write two true statements about you and then one lie (in any order you wish). Then readers (aka friends) will come visit your blog and guess which ones are the truths and/or which one is the lie. I'm terrible at explaining how to play games like these but am banking on the fact that many of you already know how to play.

But here's the key part--we highly recommend that you include the "answers" in a post the following day or so. This way, readers can guess without accidentally seeing the answers in the comments section or at the bottom of your post.

So let's play! Here are my 2 truths and a lie and here are Elizabeth's. We can't wait to read yours and hear your guesses, too!

So tell me friends, which one do you think is the lie?
1. I dyed my hair a deep reddish color in high school.
2. I haven't been to a movie theater since 2006.
3. I was voted most likely to have ten kids in fifth grade.

Here's the fine print: To join in the fun, simply grab a button (below), write your own two truths and a lie, link-up your post and play along, meeting new friends along the way. We can't wait to read your posts!

  1. This is such a fun theme! I can't wait to write mine, I will just have to think of some clever things. :) I am guessing your lie is the movie theater one?? It's between that and the reddish hair. I'm going to go with.... Movie theater. Final answer!

    1. Yay, I'm excited to read yours! I definitely had an advantage and took a week or so to come up with some semi-clever truths and a lie. Let's just say I came up with ten or so and then had to narrow them down to one. :)

  2. Love this link-up. Excited to join in the fun. I think the movie theatre one is the lie. And if so, then I think in your follow-up post you should add a photo of the reddish hair!

    1. Well, I guess I should admit that I wrote and re-wrote my two truths and a lie a few times because I couldn't come up with any good ones. :) And I can't wait to read yours! I'm always stumped by these games and I also LOVE getting to know people and learning random facts about people, too. :)

  8. How great!!! I'm going to link up on Friday. :-) I'm guessing that the lie is that you dyed your hair... I'm almost 100% certain the 10 kids one is one of the truths. ;-)

  9. I love this game! We played it all the time in college. It is a great ice breaker game. I actually did this in one of my posts not too long ago. Can't wait to play and join The Circle for the first time! I'm linking up tomorrow!

And for you, I'm going to say that #1 is a lie. #2 is a close second, but I could actually believe that because I have to REALLY want to see a movie in order to go to the theater. And #3 just sounds like something from elementary school. haha

So, #1 is my final guess! :)

    1. I'm with you! Normally, I'm not a huge fan of icebreakers, but this one is a lot of fun and I've loved doing it on my blog, too! I can't wait to read yours, girl! :)

And I also can't wait to reveal the answers tomorrow. I've told myself that I won't say anything until then and now I just need to stick to my word. :)

    1. I know, right? I have to give all the credit to Elizabeth, though, because she's the one who came up with it! :) I'm excited to read yours--after all of our emails I feel like I know you pretty well, but I also know that there's still lots left to get to know about you, too! When I was writing this post, I had to try and think of things that you didn't know about me because I didn't want to make it too easy on you, haha. :)
