EVERYDAY MOMENTS | A NEW SERIES.

everydaymoments
Ever since I wrote and published this post, I realized just how much I need to focus and remember the everyday moments.

I don't lead a very exciting life, that's for sure. I don't travel a lot, nor do I make enough money to afford any of that. But I do take photos and enjoy details and I want to remember that calm lives are good lives. Really good lives. And I want to be proud of the little things that happen over my weekends, even if they're not nearly as exciting as my friends/co-workers' weekends.

So I'm starting a new series that I'm calling everyday moments. Nothing big, nothing exciting, but just the everyday. And if you'd like to join me, I'd love to have the company.

So what happened this weekend? That's a great question, isn't it?

For starters, I enjoyed the frosty weather. It's been dry and sunny during the day (with highs of forty degrees, so not too warm, but I'll take it!) so these past few mornings have been frosty, frosty, frosty.

Every morning at work while the kids are playing outside, I see the glimmer of the frost on the bark dust and wish I had my camera to take a few photos of it. And lucky for me, the frost was still hanging around on Saturday morning for me to capture some of it.

I also got to tag along with my sister during her riding lesson. I know that you don't really know her, but this girl is an all around animal lover. She may be allergic to their fur (or saliva, if you're science-savvy), but she loves and has a touch for animals and animal behavior. She's in sync with them, or whatever you call it.

She's been going to riding lessons for a few years now and simply loves it. And now that I'm no longer in school and have more free time, I have the opportunity to tag along and see her in her element.

As someone who knows next to nothing about horses and riding, it was amazing. I loved the lighting and the feeling of the barn and loved seeing her do her thing. Sure, I'm not into horses and riding, but I was reminded that loving other people doesn't mean loving their passions. It's seeing them in their element and trying to relate to them based on their passions. After all, if she can stand hearing about the germy kiddos every day after work, surely I can stand an afternoon in a sometimes smelly but lovely barn!

So that's my weekend. Nothing too exciting, but plenty of little moments that I don't want to forget, either.

So tell me, how was your weekend, friends?

And if hashtags were available in the blogging world, I'd hashtag with Mary Beth's #everydayproject. But alas, there are no hashtags for blogs. At least not yet...

  3. The Hubs told me he loves watching me love photography. He doesn't really care to learn anything about it, but he loves that I love it. That's seeing people down deep and truly loving every part of them! I bet if you told your sister how much you loved watching her it would totally make her feel so loved by you!

    1. You said it! I feel like calm lives are all too often seen as bad things or boring people--and I, too, think of that when it comes to my uneventful weekends or plans. But like you said, calm lives really are good lives and that's something I hope to remember and pass on with these posts!

    1. Yay, I'm glad you're as excited about it as I am! And you are way, way, WAY too kind.

And aren't horses beautiful? I'll admit, I was once afraid of them since they're so huge, but I love their beauty and I hope to take more photos of them and my sister soon! And yes, I do hope to ride someday--although, it would mean I'd have to put the camera down... :)
