ON THE RIGHT FOOT.

IMG_0815[1]

2014 is here. 2014. Someone please tell me how this happened.

And as 2014 takes wind, I've come to realize all of the changes I want to take place. And it's not just any change, it's a deep desire to change. But don't we all?

But in the midst of the cleaning/organizing, calorie-burning exercises, and resolution-making, I've realized just how much I need to re-center, or ground my life before I start making changes and writing down goals for the year.

I need to remind myself that Jesus is my anchor. My hope, my firm foundation.

I need to remind myself that no matter how many goals I write, how many dreams I have, how many resolutions I write (and later forget about), God's plans will always prevail.

Always.

I need to remind myself that no matter what this year brings, God is there. He is Emmanuel, God with us.

I need to remind myself of all the goodness He gave me in 2013. I need to remind myself of how I overcame the bad stuff and how He helped me.

I need to start this year off on the right foot. With God with me, in front of me, and right behind me.

I need to remember that without Him, I am nothing. But with Him, I am a daughter, a princess, a loved one. I am His.

So tell me, how are you starting this year off on the right foot?

  1. What better way to start off the year right than establishing a firmer foundation in God? This is beautifully written, and a sweet reminder of how we can have all of the goals and plans in the world, but none of them are worth accomplishing without God by our side. Thanks for the bout of positivity today. :)

    1. Exactly! It's definitely easier said than done, but it was something I felt like I needed to write to remind myself. That being said, I'm glad it resonated with you, too! :)

    1. Thank you, friend! I'm glad you found it to be a reminder as much as it was to me (that's actually the main reason why I wrote this post, as a reminder for myself!). :)

  4. Great post girl! It is amazing to think about how in the non-Christmas months how I forget how God is still Emmanuel. He is with us always, but sometimes I forget that without the constant reminder. :)

    1. Thank you! And I am the SAME way. I learned what Emmanuel meant years ago as a kid but never really fully understood what the meant and how much it meant to me until just this past Christmas. Now, I'm just trying not to forget that (hence this post). :)

And you're so right, He is ALWAYS with us. Always, always. :)

I loved that line "God's plans will ALWAYS prevail"
quite honestly - i needed to hear that today.
making sure that my focus - my love - my fondation is firmly planted in the heart of God.

    1. This post is a reminder for me each and every day. Putting my whole heart and all my trust and life in His hands is something I need to do at least once a day (and sometimes I unfortunately forget to, if I'm honest). Anyway, thank you for reading this post and refreshing me on its truth, haha. :)
