WHEN A VERSE CLICKS.

Before I even start, I highly suggest listening to this song while reading. Music is a huge part of my life and this worship song was put into my mind while writing it. So for the full effect, click play, okay?

You know that feeling, that aha moment, when something finally clicks? I have those all the time and love them (does that say something about me?).

Anyway, one of those moments happened last night while reading SheReadsTruth. Last night's post was the last of their Gospel series and it was a series that to be honest, I was not a fan of at the beginning.

But God had something in plan for me because last night's reading brought me that aha moment that I had been craving.

These past few weeks have been hard and stressful--but who doesn't have (long) moments of stress in their work/school/family/personal life? I like to think I live a pretty carefree life but this past week hit me hard.

There were moments when I caved and let sin--you know, worry, frustration, and anger?--creep in and while it may have felt good momentarily, I still hated it. I hated letting sin win and letting sin creep back into my life, into my heart and soul.

I hated it.

And it was while reading the devotional that I realized I have 100% control over my reactions, how I choose to react to sin that wants to creep into my life. Sin that temptingly wants to take over and control me.

I can choose to close the door and let it die outside in the cold. While reading the devotional, I somehow got to thinking of sin as a weed. A pesky weed that so badly wants to pull out all your water, your faith and your nourishment. It wants to creep into your life and dry your heart, your soul up and send it withering to the ground.

But here's the good news, you can choose to pull that weed right out of your life. You can choose to live and flourish and let sin die out in the cold.

And that's exactly what I choose to do today, tomorrow, and tomorrow's tomorrow, too. I don't want to live under sin anymore, but rather, the God and Savior who died and saved me from my sins.

So are you with me? Together, I want to choose life, choose Jesus, and choose His grace that truly does cover all sin.

"For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law
but under grace" Romans 6:14 (ESV).

  1. i hear ya, sister! that gospel plan opened my eyes to grace and sin and a whole lotta other things. it's not that i had it wrong, but i had MY ideas of what they were supposed to be or look like. God is breaking down those barriers and showing me HIS grace, HIS love, etc. this is a great post!!

    1. Same! God has definitely been teaching me and using SheReadsTruth to deepen my faith and trust and relationship with Him. One of my many reasons why I looove the SheReadsTruth plans and community. :)

  2. I love this! A similar thing happened to me on Sunday when I was listening to the chorus of the Hillsong United song "To Be Like You." Instead of focusing on the things I want to do and the decisions I want to make, I should be focusing on the fact that my life belongs to Jesus because of his grace. That's a great verse from Romans, too!

    1. Ooh, I haven't heard of that Hillsong United song, but I looove their music so I will most definitely look it up as soon as I finish this up.

I know what you mean about focusing on Jesus and His grace. That's something that I honestly needed to remind myself right now. :)

    1. Me, too friend. Me, too. This week has been such a doozy and it's my faith--as hard and as shaky as it has been--that has really helped me through it all. It's weeks like this one that make me so grateful that I have Him in my life. :)

And thanks, Miranda! I've been itching and itching for a new look so I'm glad you noticed and like it, too! :)

  5. This: "...I realized I have 100% control over my reactions, how I choose to react to sin that wants to creep into my life."

^^^That is what I needed to be reminded of. That is what I needed to hear once again. This whole post! So, so good! And that song? Absolute perfect truth. :)

"Nothing compares to Your embrace, Light of the world, forever reign, the riches of Your love will always be enough." Amen.

    1. Thank you for re-reminding me of these truths tonight. This week has been a tough one and it's times like this that I need to remind myself of my faith each and every single day/moment/spare moment of time.

Also, isn't that song amazing? We've sung it in church a few times before and it's always been a fave of mine--especially this video with Hillsong singing it! :)
