CURRENTLY | MAY.

grateful for time spent with my mama. I totally took her for granted in my teenage years and am just learning how amazing this woman is. I can only hope I'll be as great of a listener, mother, wife, and cook as she is someday!

eyeing these three books for my next installment of Project Bookshelf. Have you read any of them?

laughing at the funniest things that kids tell me. I mean, what do you say when a kiddo tells you she doesn't like Martha Stewart because she 'uses too much butter'?

sipping on green smoothies. I'm kind of really obsessed with them as of late and will likely turn green inside pretty soon.

excited to (seriously) get back into running. I haven't gone running consistently since last summer (ahem) and cannot wait to get back into a running schedule and be able to run longer and without stopping so much (it's that bad). It's been way too long, I tell ya.

reading
the book of Job. I've never taken a lot of time to study this book and I am loving how much I'm loving from it.

shopping for shorts. I want shorts that don't show tons of skin and yet aren't as long as my cropped pants, too. You know, cute ones that are still pretty modest. I kind of like this pair or this one, too.

watching this video on Youtube. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week, my fellow teachers!

ready for summer. Hand-picked berries, wearing flip-flops 24/7, reading late into the night, and tanner legs. Enough said.

learning that Twitter isn't as weird (or difficult to use) as I once thought. In fact, I kind of love connecting with other bloggers on Twitter, especially this girl and this girl, too.

loving the smell of cookies baking in the oven. Is there anything better in life?

writing snail mail. I've been terrible about writing snail mail but I'm finally getting to it and am so excited to send them off. Now I just need to find myself some cute stamps...

and linking up with Jenna and Anne for this fun Currently Link-Up. Thanks for letting me join in!

  1. Oh shorts. Love hate them. Because of this I usually end up wearing breezy dresses all summer. Blah.

    1. Wasn't that hilarious? I heard it and instantly knew it was one that I wouldn't forget. Kids definitely say the funniest things! :)

  3. Yay! Thanks so much for joining us. I always love hearing about what's currently going on with you. And I'm with ya, I'm excited to get back into my Couch to 5K. I did it last spring, but stopped after the wedding. I'm soooo out of shape now. You're going to have to teach me your Twitter ways. It's the one social media platform that I just don't get.

PS, Your toes are cute. :)

    1. Thanks for hosting! I'm excited to get back to running 5ks, too! I did it last summer but sadly stopped because of the weather and work (not to mention how dark it gets in the wintertime, too). But I'm pretty much out of excuses now so I'm hoping to get back into running more often and longer! We'll have to do it "together" or something. :)

And I'm still learning lots in terms of Twitter! I definitely am by no means an expert, but am learning that it's actually wayyy more fun than I originally thought. But it's not really my favorite social media platform, though. Blogging and instagram win that one for me!

    1. I'm really coming to love Job, too! I was a little hesitant starting it off (I'm reading through the Bible backwards from Revelation to Genesis), but I've been learning a lot and am excited to see what else the rest of the book has to teach me.

  7. Berries! Love that about summer too. And I haven't read Carry On, Warrior yet, but it's on my list- my mom loved it. Thanks for linking up!

    1. Berries are by far my favorite part about summer. :) And I've heard lots about Glennon's book, too, and really hope to get my hands on it soon!

Thanks for hosting! I can't wait to read everyone else's posts!

  8. I am not the only one who hated/was totally confused by twitter???
you must tell me how you have learned to love it!

And the shorts you picked out look really cute! I have a 3 1/2 inch pair by old navy and love them, just the right length!

Banana republic has some great lengthed shorts as well!

    1. Haha, I still have a love/hate relationship with it but I've actually come to love it more than status updates on Facebook. I hardly really use Facebook anymore, really, so I've turned to Twitter to connect with bloggers and stuff. It's still something I'm learning from, but it's something that I've come to like (or at least a little more!). :)

And I actually ended up ordering a pair online from Old Navy but will have to try them on to make sure they actually look all right. :) I'll definitely have to look into Banana Republic, though! Thanks for letting me know!

  9. I've been avoiding Twitter... but so many bloggers are all up in there that I feel like I'm missing out. And how easy is it to tweet a blog link? We'll see...

The blogger design book looks good!

And for shorts, check more of the women's section in Target. I feel you on not being booty shorts, but not being down to my knees. I usually have the best luck there, and sometimes Old Navy

    1. Haha, I still have a sort of love/hate relationship with Twitter, but I've been learning to actually enjoy it a bit because I can connect with other bloggers. :)

And I'll have to look at Target the next time I go! I actually tried a few pairs on last summer but didn't end up getting any because I didn't like the color on me. But now that it's a new season, I'll have to go check out Target. Thanks for the tip!

  10. Loved this :) I've watched your blog from afar because I've always loved The Circle link up, but I always see it when it's near ending! Every month! Grr. Anyway, twitter. I love it. I'm gonna go follow you now, obviously.

So glad to have clicked over from the Currently linkup. Hope to chat more soon! ~Jenna // A Mama Collective

    1. Aw, thanks Jenna! The next link-up is coming up in two weeks (I think!) and I'm hoping to announce the topic and the date in the weeks to come. I've actually been thinking about announcing it for some time now just to let everyone know, but haven't done it until now (blogger fail!). :)

  11. I have been getting more into Twitter lately for blogging purposes, I like it too! Going to make sure I'm following you ;) The book of Job seems like it would be really interesting!

    1. I agree! At first, I hated the idea of signing up for yet another social media platform and almost regretted doing it. I think I even wrote a post about how much I didn't understand/like it, haha. I guess times have changed? :) Anyway, I need to go make sure I'm following you now!

And the book of Job is interesting! I didn't really expect to learn much from it since it's not too well known of a book, but I'm interested to see what it has in hold for me!

    1. I've actually thought about sharing them! I actually make them in big batches and freeze them for myself and my sisters so I'm not sure how much an individual serving takes ingredient-wise, haha. But mostly, it's spinach, coconut milk, bananas, berries, and some Greek Yogurt. :)

And that's my life, haha! It's posts like these that make me grateful for the little things in life!

  13. Love this! I keep seeing these currently posts around and I just might have to join in :) I know exactly what you're talking about with shorts.. blah! Im tall and it makes shorts even shorter.

I don't quite remember how I came across your blog- since I've been blog hopping this afternoon, but I hope you don't mind if I stop stalking and actually start following :) You have a lovely blog!

    1. They're a lot of fun and I hope you do join in! They're one of my favorite kinds of posts (especially since they're so easy to write, haha!). :)

And finding shorts is nearly impossible for me. I just ordered a pair online and so I'm crossing my fingers they look all right!

Lastly, I'm so glad you said hi! I love meeting other bloggers and bloghopping is one of my favorite things to do when I have a spare moment. :)

  14. + I totally agree about wanting to find some shorts. It's one of the things that my summer wardrobe is missing!
+ I recently did that 30 day challenge of green smoothies and now I've kinda fallen off the track. Not that I wanted one every day, but I haven't had one since I finished. And I miss them! They definitely gave me a great deal of energy and were yummy.
+ Is there a way that we could be like running accountability partners?? haha I DESPERATELY need to get back into running. I was actually really enjoying it and miss it.
+ There is a book that a friend told me about that I think you would like. I can't remember the name because I haven't read it yet (it's on my kindle). I'll look it up and then e-mail you! :)

    1. Exactly! I have one pair that I made from an old pair of jeans, one "hand me down" from a sister, and a few pairs of athletic shorts but none of the cute ones that you can pair with chambray or something. :)

YESSSS!!!! Let's be running partners! I'm a terrible running wimp when it comes to bad weather and could use someone to keep me motivated and inspired to go! I've used the excuse of waiting until summer when I can go running on a more consistent schedule, but I know that that's one LAME excuse, haha. :) So yes, let's be partners!!! Let's start an email going or something. :)

And I can't wait to hear about this book! I love getting recommendations and it seems like it must be a good one!

  15. It's taken me awhile to get on board with twitter, too. Maybe I'm just not clever enough for it? Good luck with the shorts shopping! It really is tricky to find some that aren't too tight, aren't too short, and are still cute to boot!

    1. I feel the same way about Twitter! My presence really isn't known all that much solely because I stink at coming up with creative tweets. There should be a class for that or something, haha. And thanks! I'm still on the lookout for cute shorts that fit that exact description. :)
