EVERYDAY MOMENTS: HIKING SEASON.

It's been awhile since I've gone hiking. Call me a wimp, but walking in the mud and hearing the squishing underneath my feet is not exactly my cup of tea. Seriously, just the sound of it makes my shoulders shudder.

So now that it's starting to dry out (which is a loose term, seeing as it's been raining off and on all day today), I have deemed it officially hiking season. Which, if you know me, is pretty much like summer vacation.

My dad asked what we wanted to do this weekend and without hesitation I said walking. More specifically, walking in the forest and definitely not on any paved paths. I didn't want to walk in a park, nope I wanted the forest and fortunately, my mom and dad agreed.

If you've never been, I truly believe there's something about hiking in the forest that clears the mind. The air is fresher and sweet with the smell of firs and other evergreens. The ground is covered with loose gravel and dirt and is bordered with grass and flowers. And while you may come across a few other hikers, they'll all incredibly friendly and they mind their own business, too.

So let's just say that this is only the beginning of my hiking adventure posts. And now that you've seen my hundreds of hiking photos, I'm hoping you're convinced that hiking in the forest is the best place to be (well, after Target, that is).

p.s. Tomorrow is The Circle! Don't forget to write up your post on goals and check back here tomorrow to link-up and find out who this month's co-host is!

  2. These pictures are killlllling me! I have been trying to get out and hike forever now. First, it was still too cold, then still too wet from all the snow (we tried and my shoes soaked through in minutes), and then too busy with school. Now that it's warming up and I'm on summer break I can not wait to get out in the forest and hike! These photos are so so lovely :)

    1. Same! Between the weather (nobody likes wet shoes/socks!) and work schedules, this is the first time I've been able to go hiking in months and I'm so glad I got to go. I hope you get a chance to go sometime soon!

p.s. How are you in summer mode already? So jealous! :)

    1. Thanks, Jenna! I completely agree about God's creativity and artistry. It's honestly really hard for me to grasp that He's created each and every one of those things I photographed. He really is an amazing creator!

And I'm glad you're up to seeing more hiking adventures! They're pretty much a go-to weekend outing so they'll definitely be more to come! :)

    1. Thank you! It honestly is all about the camera. Investing in a camera is definitely worth it, if you ask me. :)

And I'd love to go hiking with you someday! I don't know much about the East Coast, to be honest, but I'm sure there are some beautiful places to hike and explore and it would be so much fun to do that with you!

  8. hahah, so awesome.

(unfortunately, and fortunately for me, being a sole owner of a little (but really big) fur ball, hikes are required in soggy as well as pleasant seasons)

Great shots of your parents - they look so in love and so much fun :)

    1. You, my friend, are amazing. I'm too much of a wimp to go hiking when the ground squishes beneath my feet!

And they are most definitely hilarious people. I think I get my funny face making ability from him, haha. :)

    1. You know, I never would have ever considered going somewhere with them in public back in middle/high school but I really am grateful for both my parents and while they can drive me crazy (don't all parents?), I couldn't live without 'em. :)

And hooray for hiking! I'm always jealous of your beautiful sunsets in CA and hope you have a great hike!

  12. LOVE these photos! Hiking is one of my most favorite things to do (I think we've talked about this). It definitely is one of the best things to clear your mind and just think about life, but also relax. You know, it's so true that whenever you encounter other hikers, they are friendly and keep to themselves. They are all there to just enjoy the outdoors!

    1. We are most definitely going to go hiking together someday, okay? I love that we share a love for hiking because I think it's one of those activities that a lot of people don't get enough exposure to! It really is a great way to clear your mind (and lungs!) and it really seems to attract friendly people, too. :)

    1. Um, you stop. Seriously. :) I really give all the props to the forest--it's just way too beautiful not to take photos of it all! I was seriously snapping photos like crazy and my parents (really, my dog, though!) would have to stop and wait for me. That's the herding instinct in my dog, that's for sure!

And my parents are pretty cute together, I guess. :) They sometimes drive me nuts, but they're hilarious and a great role model for me in terms of marriage. :)
