CURRENTLY | AUGUST.

currently
Watching Gilmore Girls and feeling like a Gilmore Girl now, too. I feel like I just started the series and now that I'm on the sixth season, I'm starting to get a little sad that I'm almost through them all.

Perfecting buttercream. Frosting has never been a true favorite of mine (I'm all about whipped cream, personally) but I'm all for learning the basic recipes and this one at least is an easy (and sweet!) one.

Reading blogs like crazy. It may be a cliche answer for a post like this, but I've been craving more well-written blogs that focus on life and faith (like Mary Beth's blog). Two of my latest faves are Lindsey and Moriah's blogs.

Enjoying this last month-ish of summer. I'm going back to work next month and am trying to make the most of this last month of freedom. Summer, why do you have to be so short?

Listening to podcasts! I used to listen to the Joy the Baker podcast all the time but took a break and am now back on the podcast train (and wondering why I ever hopped off) and am listening to Joy's podcast as well as Elise's, and Tsh's podcasts, too. There's something about podcasts that makes me feel like I'm part of a blogger meet-up or something. Do you have a fave?

Photographing everything (see these posts for proof)! Lame answer, I know. I've been thinking about investing in a new lens since my little nifty fifty has seen better days (it hates focusing on auto and that makes me sad). I've been reading about the best lenses for cropped bodies (like mine) and am thinking about either these two lenses

Feeling sore from Blogilates. If you're looking for a tough (but amazing!) workout, I highly recommend Cassey's workouts not just because they work but because they make you feel 100 times better about yourself. too. You can choose what you want to tone and the workouts will quite literally kick your butt.

Shopping for colored skinny jeans. I might be a few years late and I might be in the wrong season, but I've always wanted a pair and figure now's better than never (right?). Any recommendations on where/when to find a pair?

Linking up with Anne and Jenna. Check out more currently posts on their blogs!

What are you up to currently?

    1. I had no idea you loved that series! I rent them from the library but only decided to start watching them this year and can't believe it took me so long. :)

    1. You need to! To be honest, I only started the series this past year so I only recently jumped on the bandwagon. To me, it's a classic (for the girls out there) and while it wasn't a favorite in the beginning, I can't stop now, haha.

And what podcasts/blogs do you love? I love new recommendations, too, and I have a feeling I'd love the ones you do. :)

I've been watching Old Navy's site like crazy waiting for them to have some. I haven't found some yet but I'll check out JC Penney!

  4. I've been craving frosting! (And cake and frosting just aren't something I even like all that much.)

Over the last week I jumped back onto the podcast train too! I found a handful that are great and that I NEVER knew about before. :)

Tell me about Blogilates? What are you doing? I see tons of videos going around, but I don't know where to begin or what ones to incorporate!

    1. Me, too! I'm really not a frosting girl and only like certain cakes, but it's been something I've been craving, too. Fortunately, my sister's birthday is coming up so I'll have an extra excuse to eat some. :)

And what podcasts do you listen to? I've seen a lot of other bloggers write about them and decided to give them another go. I'm so glad I did!

Blogilates is a pilates workout series and Cassey (the trainer) is so encouraging and so fun that it's kind of addicting. It's painfully hard at times (the reps mostly!) but I am loving how much stronger it makes me feel. She has a Youtube channel, app, and website where her videos are posted and even has beginner workouts, too. I gave it a go and love that you can pick and choose what you'd like to workout and I love the variety of different workouts, too. I highly recommend it! :)

  5. blogilates = my favorite while my calf sprain heals (4weeks-3 months of healing time BLEH!) cassey is just so...awesome!
and woohoo for Gilmore girls. man I haven't watched them in forever!

I keep eyeing that sigma lens too. (one of the photography blogs I read swears by it) but my gosh I totally don't have an extra $400 to drop ;(

    1. I am so pumped that I have a Blogilates friend! Do you follow Cassey's plans on Blogilates or do you just pick and choose which workouts to do?

And I've seen a lot of info about photography blogs, too! I've been doing some light research (aka Pinterest searching) on lenses and cropped body/cropped sensor cameras (like I have) and have been thinking about trying a 30 or 35mm lens since my nifty fifty hates automatic focusing (have you experienced that? I can't tell if it's because I've used mine a lot and because I got it used or if it's just a 50mm lens thing). Now I just have to save up for it!

  6. Grr, I have my eye on that same exact Sigma lens. And I thought I could FINALLY get it, when I was the unlucky participant in a hit & run car accident. The cost to repair the damage? Exactly what was in my lens fund, of course.

    1. Oh no! A hit and run? That's terrible! I'm so sorry and hope everything's okay (aside from the cost of repairs). :)

I've been doing some research on lenses (what kind of camera do you have?) and what's good for a cropped body camera like mine and heard that 30 or 35mm lenses are great ones to try out. When I came across Sigma lenses, I immediately put them on my someday list. :)

    1. I love discovering how many fellow Gilmore Girls lovers out there. I feel like I should have jumped on the bandwagon a loooong time ago.

And thanks! I never even thought much into the angle until you mentioned it! :)

  8. After reading through all the comments. I am so glad to see that there are so many Gilmore Girls fans. If we all ever get together some day, we MUST have a marathon watching. :)

And I might definitely need to check out Blogilates. I have been on such a downhill slope lately with anything food and fitness. I need/want to change that pronto.

    1. Isn't it crazy? I had no idea there were so many Gilmore Girl watching bloggers out there. Definitely a sign of a good show. :) Speaking of TV, got any recommendations for summer TV? I know that September is around the curve but I seem to be in a TV desert as of late.

Also, we will most definitely have a Gilmore Girl marathon when we get together! That sounds just about perfect to me. I just finished the 6th season today and cannot wait to find out what Luke says after Lorelai's ultimatum. :)

You should most definitely check out Blogilates! I just learned that Amy does it, too, and while it's TOUGH, it always makes you feel good after finishing a workout. I love that I can pick and choose what I want to work on (abs, arms, back, legs, cardio, etc.) and that her videos don't just have the same moves over and over. They seem to be all different and she's pretty passionate, too. She also talks a lot during her videos, which makes it a little easier to workout, it you ask me. Let me know if you try it!

  10. Loving what you've been photographing lately! I need to up my game with practice there. But at least I'm getting a lot of good baby shots :) Target, Old Navy, & Gap often have options for colored skinny jeans, as does LOFT, which is the place with my best fit, so I always check there first! Hope you find one you love.

    1. Hey, I would love to take photos of cute babies--so you're pretty lucky there. :)

And I've been watching Target, Old Navy, and Gap lately for colored skinny jeans but haven't found any yet. I'm hoping it's just a seasonal thing and that I'll land on a pair soon. And I didn't think to look at LOFT! Thanks for the recommendation!
