INSTAGRAM, (SORT OF) LATELY.

Instagram and I have a funny relationship, I tell ya. Even though I check it at least twice a day (once in the morning, once before bed), I hardly every post on it. I'm not sure if that just makes me a stalker--or admirer of pretty photos--or not, but I guess that's just how I roll. I've tried to up my instagramming habits, but so far, no such luck.

So for all you instagrammers out there, do you follow an instagramming routine? Do you post daily? Once a week? Or do you just enjoy the photos like me?

p.s. Curious which instagrammers are my fave? Find out here

  1. I usually at least try to post once a day... but most of the time it's whenever I capture a "share worthy" photo. It's kind of like an easy way to get more photography shared... without having to write a whole blog post!

  2. I don't have an instagram schedule - I check it A LOT during the day, but posting is pretty random for me.

HOWEVER, for my job, we signed up for schedu.gram and it's been a life changer. You can schedule out instagram posts and upload from your computer -- so much easier than emailing a large photo to you, downloading it to your phone, and then uploading to instagram again. It's not a free service, but I highly recommend it if you ever want to turn blogging into a business and use instagram to build your brand.

I think, for personal purposes, posting something meaningful and thoughtful is so much more rewarding to see on Instagram than something that's just the same ol' shot day in and day out. I know a few people who post the same darn selfie of them driving to work. Every day. With a very abstract quote. Same makeup, same hair, same facial expression, same car seat/seat belt in the background. It gets a little old, haha.

  3. i don't have a schedule. i never want it to feel like a job or something on my to-do list. i post pretty frequently because i love sharing life through photos. sometimes i will go days or weeks without posting and some days i will post 5 times a day. it is random, but that is my life!

  4. I'm sometimes like you! It kinda feels like I post, but then all of the sudden a week has gone by and I'm like...oh snap, I better do something Insta-worthy. ;) I love all of these photos! That pup is soooooo cute!

  6. I am on Instagram a LOT (I don't think it's stalking.... just admiring), but I only post when I happen to capture something nice on my phone. During the summer, that's every day. During the school year... maybe a couple times a week?

  7. So true, so true. I love Instagram because I love photography and like you said, it's an easy way to create mini blog posts of sorts, too!

And I love that you said "shareworthy" photos. So incredibly guilty of that one!

  8. I'm the same! I check mine at least three times a day but don't really post that often.

I've heard of similar apps where you can schedule social media posts and I agree that those kinds of apps would be great for building your brand. :)

And I also agree with you on posting things that are meaningful and thoughtful. I think it can turn into a post just to post kind of thing for some people whereas I'm all about quality over quantity, if that makes any sense.

  9. Same here! I like sharing photos and sharing tidbits of my life but I don't like to pressure myself to post just because. Random is a good thing! :)

  10. Glad you can relate! I check mine a lot but realized recently that I don't post much. And then there's the whole insta-worthy thing. Definitely guilty of that one, too!

And that's my neighbor's puppy! We puppysat this summer and it was so much fun. :)

  11. Aw, thanks! That's how I feel about Instagram (and your feed!). I feel like it's a great way to get to know someone better and get a little peek into their lives. That, and it's photography-centered and well, you know how obsessed I am with that!

  12. Me, too! I check mine at least three times a day but I, like you, tend to only post photos that I like and feel are share-worthy. :)

p.s. How did I not know you have Instagram?

  13. I have to rhyme or reason when it comes to IG. I have it. I love it. I use it. And that's all. ;)

I always love it when you post pictures!

  14. Well, that's the perfect philosophy for it, if you ask me. :) I mean, how could you not like Instagram?

And thanks! I looove getting little peeks into your life, too. Like those kids books, for instance. Did you snag any great ones?

  15. None that were GREAT...but, I did get some of my old favorites, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, for example. What about you. Have you snagged any lately?

  16. That view of the mountains is just.... yeah. Also. Raspberries. Because raspberries.

  17. That's one of my FAVORITE kid's books! Good times.

  18. I love Instagram, but I don't always have much to share. I mean... I work from home. Who wants to see me in my pajamas, at the same desk, five days a week? I try to post a few times a week. I use the Repost app quite often, to share what other awesome people post. It keeps my Instagram account active, even if the pictures aren't always my own. It's kinda of like retweeting someone.

  19. I so get what you're saying, Brita. I work at a preschool and don't like to take photos of the kids because of privacy reasons so I don't really get many photos during the school year. But then again, sometimes the most mundane photos can be the most beautiful! :)

And I've never heard of the Repost app before! It sounds pretty cool, though! :)

  21. I don't have one right now, but that's a great idea! :)

And I actually ordered some books to add to my terribly late Project Bookshelf series so I'm hoping I can update that one soon, too!

  22. I have had that book read to me no less than one million times! ;)

  24. I love instagram, but I don't post as often as I check it. Mainly because I don't have much to post, working from home, there isn't the most exciting things to post, especially not of the same thing every day! haha I wan't to get better at posting more often thought.

  25. I don't know! But my handle is @laurenchunner. :) What's yours?

    ReplyDelete
  26. That's how I am! I definitely check it way more often than I post to it. And like you, it's mostly because I don't really post much from home and work (it seems like that's a dilemma for a lot of people out there, though!).

And I'm with you, I want to post more often, too! Here's to instagramming! :)

  27. Exactly! I got Instagram when I was an au pair. The only picture I ever showed of my kids was just one of them, with two other girls the same age, from a distance, not easily identifiable. And I didn't say which was my kid and which two were her friends.

I have to stay on top of all things social media and content marketing for my job, so I've read about a lot of apps to improve Instagram. The two I ended up downloading were Repost, which I LOVE, and Picframe, which allows you to make collages on Instagram. I primarily use it for makeup posts or outfit posts (neither of which happen often because of the aforementioned pajamas while working at home!).

  28. I didn't know you were an au pair! That must have been a fun job (hopefully!). :) And I'm glad you understand about privacy and such, it seems like a lot of people don't these days!

And I've heard of Picframe before! It's fun to make collages but for some reason, I never think about it when Instagramming. It would definitely be a good idea for makeup and outfits, though! :)

  29. Your photos are so pretty!! I haven't been back on Instagram for that long, and I have no strategies for it. I mostly like to stalk the pretty pictures!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Aw, thanks Jayda! :) And I'm the same, I pretty much use it to look through everyone else's photos!
