CURRENTLY | DECEMBER.

WEARING my new rainboots. I've been looking for a good quality (yet affordable) pair for over a year now (cheap ones did not make the cut this time around) and ended up buying a pair from Kamik and I couldn't be happier. Hooray for new boots before our incoming winter rainy days!

MAKING a budget for the holidays. It's so easy for me to lose track of my expenses in the midst of trying to find the right present for each

LISTENING TO Christmas music--but aren't we all? Once December hits (and occasionally a little earlier), I'll load Christmas music on my iPod, play Christmas music on Pandora, and then play a little on my viola, too. It's the most wonderful time of the year!

LOOKING FOR cute tights and leggings! I've been looking for some cute patterned tights/leggings to pair with skirts and dresses and would love to know where you find yours!

WRAPPING up 2014! I was going to go with presents, but I've had the end of the year on my mind as of late. I honestly cannot believe we're in the final month of 2014 and it's hard to believe all that's happened, all that I've done, and all that I still want to do. Do you have any last minute goals for 2014?

LOVING all things gold, especially now that it's the holiday season. In fact, I'm kinda sorta obsessed with gold and sparkles right now--something I never would've thought I'd like in a million years.

WATCHING MasterChef Junior. I'm actually a little obsessed with this show, too. I started watching it this season and cannot even begin to comprehend how these kids can cook so well (and under so much pressure!). As for who I'm rooting for, I'm all for Oona.

ANTICIPATING day trips with the family. One of my favorite vacation traditions with my family is going on day trips. We love exploring our own state and I cannot wait to try new foods, do some shopping, and just

LINKING UP WITH Jenna and Anne! Thank you both for another fun link-up!

  1. Hey, I'm sporting an added accessory right now too! Crunches "as Big Bro" calls them. I dropped a big wooden stool on my foot and it damaged a nerve... so I am stylin a crutch. Love it. Also... check out Aligning oil blend from Rocky Mountain Oils. I LOVE IT for general healing and injuries! I've been using it a TON these last few days!

  2. Love those boots!!! Where did you get those?? Love the color and I've been thinking about buying some work boots so I wouldn't be stomping around in chicken poop in the back yard with my Hunters. They really don't deserve that, ya know!?!
ps, I always go to Target or Forever21 for cute tights and leggings!!! They have the best. Oh, and Old Navy, too!!
+gold, I'm kind of obsessed with it right now because of the Christmas decorations! :)

Love this little catch up! :)

  6. Love the boots - great color. I am definitely on board with gold and sparkles, and these family day trips sound like a great idea! What a fun tradition.

    Thanks for linking as always!

  7. Love your boots girl! Mine are Kamik also and I love them! :)
You picked a fun color though! I was incredibly boring and went with black!
And gold- I am WITH you girl! It's my favorite actually all year long, but definitely at Christmas time! :)
    Love this post friend!

  8. yay for new boots! I have an old pair of rain boots that I totally didn't need (I was living in Las Vegas at the time - where it almost never rains) but I had to buy because they were super cute and only $4! I need to make a holiday budget! I go overboard! I LOVE Christmas music!! What are some of your favorites? OHH Please post some of your viola Christmas music!! This year has flown by! I have some goals that I was hoping to complete by this month but I didn't quite make it, but I will be adding them to my goals for next month/year! Yes to everything gold and everything sparkles!! I can't get enough of it!!

  9. Yay!!! You got your boots!!! :) And I don't know when you took that picture, but the grass is really GREEN. Ours is finally starting to die, but it was soooo green this fall!

I didn't know you played viola!!!! Did you take lessons growing up? Do you play for others?

I love your approach to "wrapping"!

I'm really into gold too and I was ALWAYS such a silver girl until a few years ago. I finally know what my Grandma was talking about!

    Enjoy your family time!!!!

  10. Those are cute boots! I'm with you on making a budget...I'm doing the same thing. Now I just need to stick to it :) I have the end of the year (plus goals for next year) on my mind too!

  11. Twins! I've recently switched to just wearing mine at work (I sprained the outer ligament in my knee, so I have to be really careful about sitting criss-cross and stuff like that, something that is a MUST pretty much for preschool teachers!).

So sorry to hear that we're twins with injuries, though! That stinks! I hope your need for "crunches" goes away soon!

  12. I ended up ordering the rain boots (they're Kamik brand) from Amazon! I have loved the pop of color and how they're Hunter-esque without being as spendy (they're close to half the price!).

And I actually just bought a pair from Old Navy a weekend or two ago! I'm still on the lookout for some other fun colors and patterns, but I am loooving my Old Navy ones right now!

  13. Thanks! I like to think that that pop of color brightens up those grey and rainy days. :)

  14. Same! I loooove tights right now and fun leggings with dresses and skirts, too. I have yet to try out fleece-lined ones but I think they're up next for me (especially as the weather gets colder!). :)

  15. That's actually why I STILL don't have a pair of rain boots, even though this rainy fall I was constantly complaining about my feet being wet... neutral pair that goes with everything, or a fun color?! Cannot decide. Yours sounds like the perfect choice given what you have in the rest of your closet - the color will go well and be a fun pop with those shades :)

  16. It was a tough decision for me, too! I found it hard to choose a bright color or neutral because I like neutrals so much. But I'm glad I branched out because the green is just so much fun. But really, I think either choice is a good one (especially if they keep your feet dry!). :)

  17. Hue is my go-to brand for both warm, patterned tights and cozy leggings! Yes, it's a little pricey, but the quality is amazing. I have two pairs of argyle tights I've had since college that still haven't worn out. Yes, the thread on the patterned parts is a bit frayed, but nothing is threadbare or holey yet.

  18. Ooh, good to know! I've actually been searching for good brands (as opposed to just store brands like Old Navy). I'll have to see if I can find them at a store near me! :)

  19. GIRL! I love that photo of you. Swooning over those boots...and basically the whole outfit! I found some really fun black tights with tiny white polka dots at target last fall...and I still love them today! I think they have them again this year!
And girl...welcome to the gold club! I want all the gold thingsssss! :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Aw, thanks! That means a lot coming from you (you already know how much I love your style!).

I would loooove to have those tights. I'm actually looking for black tights with polka dots and I'm going to have to see if they're there next time I go!

I cannot believe I didn't join the gold club sooner! Now that I'm in though, I'm hooked! :)

  21. It rained ALL day here today! It was kind of awesome. :)

Your viola story is great. That's a lot of lessons - you've got to keep going with your playing! I think it's perfectly fine to just play around the house. I know people really enjoy hearing live music, so maybe you'll share it again some day!

Oddly enough, I kind of enjoy the theory and I'd love to be able to just sit down and play but I really have to work on it. I played guitar for a few years on my own. In 5th grade I played Clarinet in school and then alto saxophone in 6th and 7th grades. I took piano off and on from the time I was 8 or 9 until I was 15 or so. I still play piano but it's pretty elementary music that I play. :) I'd love to be able to play hymns and things, but that's a ways off!

    Thankfully, gold is EVERYWHERE! :)

  22. It was a LOT of lessons. And orchestra-stuff. And craziness, haha. I do play and have found that I actually enjoy it A LOT more now that I'm playing for enjoyment, not learning. I've found that it's pretty much like riding a bike for me now, just because I played for such a long time. It doesn't, however, mean that I'm good by any means! :)

I wish I was good at the theory portion! I really just did/do not like it. Too many bad memories associated with it! :) I wish I played piano, though! I've always wished I could play. I can really only play by ear (viola is in a different clef) and only one hand, too!

  23. That's amazing that you can play by ear! Reading music wouldn't be too difficult to learn!

  24. I can't play entirely by ear, but will play songs and stuff by ear just for fun (and by songs, I really mean bits and pieces of songs!). Reading music is definitely there for me, I just don't have the dedication to do it at the moment! Maybe someday, though!

  25. You'll get there!!! I just know it! :)
