CURRENTLY | JANUARY.

currently
(LESSON) PLANNING for the week. I've gotta come up with something for the kiddos to do, right? In all honesty, though, I actually really love it!

HOPING for snow. It's unlikely that it will happen this year since we got a lot of snow last year, but I'd love to have some snowflakes before spring comes.

WRITING blog posts, of course! I just looked at my scheduled posts and realized January is pretty empty. Some would see this as a time to start fresh. Me, on the other hand? Kind of panicking...

BAKING my birthday cake! Okay, so my birthday isn't for a little while still, but a girl can bake a cake and celebrate early, right?

FILLING IN my new planner! I caved and finally bought one and am excitedly filling it up with blog to-do's and work stuff, too. And I may or may not have printed out a monthly calendar to keep by my dresser with planned outfits, too...

WEARING scarves, scarves, and more scarves. I'll wear them almost any day in the year (aside from the summertime) but I've been wearing them almost non-stop this winter. Scarves all day, every day.

RESOLVING to find new workout apps and then use them. I'm a huge fan of Blogilates but would love to find more apps/Youtube channels for early morning workouts. That, or a workout buddy to keep me accountable!

LINKING UP WITH Anne and Jenna! And I'm pumped for another year of currently posts, too!

What are YOU up to currently?

  2. What planner did you get? I LOVE planners. Even if I only use them as "suggestions!" Ha!

  3. Birthdays most definitely deserve more than one cake!

  4. Scarves are the best! I have been living in mine this winter too!!

  5. I love scarves. Resolving to finish my MG book. Loving the time I have with my family.

  9. Girl you bake that birthday cake!!! If I lived closer, I would totally bake one for/with you! Yay for a new planner! I did my first workout of the new year this morning, I did a Jillian Michael's DVD I love her workouts, I'll have to check out blogilates though!

  10. Yay for new planners! I've been having fun writing in my new one too. And scarves for life..can't get enough!

  11. I'm with you! To be honest, I'm not a huge planner user because I like to-do lists and such, but I've been wanting a monthly calendar for some time now for work AND blogging and this new one seems to do the trick. I think that makes two dorks! :)

  12. I actually got mine at Target! I never intended to find/get one when I was at Target, but I saw their Sugar Paper line there and fell in looooove. It's basically a spiral-bound calendar but with clear plastic covers and then note space in the margins, but I really wanted a monthly planner and that was right in my budget (under $10). :)

And we'll see how long it lasts! I'm definitely more of a sticky-note kind of girl, but I love the idea of having a calendar with both my work and blogging to-dos. We'll see if I stick with it, though! How's you Passion(?) planner going?

  13. I agree! The more dessert, the better. :) And you can never start celebrating too early, right?

  14. Agreed! I always looove getting/finding a new scarf. I've been adding to my collection like no other lately. Happy scarf-wearing! :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Me, too! I looove adding a scarf to all of my outfits because they're just so warm and cozy (and fun, too!). And spending time with family? Always on my to-do list!

  16. It's actually on Friday! :) But with the craziness of starting school up again (since December), it really hasn't phased me. I guess that means lots of celebrating this weekend then, right? :) Thanks again for hosting, Anne! This is honestly my favorite link-up to participate in (well, maybe after the Circle, haha). I love seeing what prompts you two come up with!

  17. It really is! I love having outfit planners (because I'll take sleep over the indecisiveness of what to wear any day!) and just recently decided to write them down on printed calendars so I can refer to past months for outfit inspiration. We'll see how it goes! :)

  18. Me, too! We really don't get it all that often, but I would love to at least have a little flurry of snowflakes someday soon! :)

And we should seriously chat about this workout buddy thing. I pretty much consider you one because your FB/instagram posts always get me inspired to get moving---especially when I see them when I'm hanging out in my sweats on my laptop, haha. :)

  19. I miss it, too! The program I teach at trains college students so they end up doing the grunt of the lesson planning and teaching--one of the things that I miss and love the most about teaching in general! Preschool planning is so much fun. Wayyy too much fun, in fact! :)

And congrats to your husband! I had no idea he was a teacher! What grade of math does he teach? Math was never my strongest subject growing up, that's for sure!

  20. I would looove to bake with you! I love baking and baking with others is way more fun. :)

And I love Blogilates! Cassey (the host/trainer) is super fun and chatty so it makes the workouts a little more bearable. And I totally admire you for doing a Jillian Michael's workout--I've heard her workouts are killer!

  21. Agreed! I love new planners and office supplies in general (and I have the same love for scarves, too!). :)

  22. Hooray for fellow lesson-planners! :) What grade/age do you teach?

  23. Love, love! Well, we have discussed planners now haven't we? ha! I would love some snow, but I highly don't that is going to happen in lower Alabama! Scarves are just a yes, always. And I recently found this youtube channel that has some great workouts. I love that she offers some quiet, low impact workouts, because that is perfect for me in the apartment. She has lots to choose from and they are fun! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB7wvgp4HUBe5TD10jIgxDg

  25. Ooh, I'll have to check out that Youtube channel! I love mixing things up and would love to try out some new workouts--thanks for sharing!

And we'll have to do some lesson-plan/teaching chats soon! :) I love exchanging teacher stories!

  26. Yes, a girl can always celebrate early... & you gotta have cake to do that! =) {Happy early birthday, by the way!} I love to fill in a planner - there's something exciting about it, but God's plans always prevail our own {Proverbs 16:9}. Can't wait to see what He's already got written in for me!
    Blessings,
    -Bess-

  27. hah we had "flurries" last night that lasted for 15 seconds lol.
AND YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS the best way to do it "long distance" is through the myfitnesspal app or the mapmyrun. i know on mapmyrun you can challenge friends...i think you can do the same on myfitnesspal. <-that one you log your food, water, and exercise intake.

  28. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I have seen your blog (coming from currently) and I'm in love. will be following!

  29. Scarves. All day scarves. Oh my word.

  30. He is teaching 9-12 grades, so everything from Algebra I to Trig! Eeek! It's his first year & he is under the supervision of a Dr. of Ed., but that actually makes it harder, I think, because he is constantly worried about meeting her standards. And then he still has to go home and do his own homework! Which is why we teamwork the lesson plans. :)

  31. I believe in a birthday week, and that's just because my husband and I were born in the same month so I can't claim a whole birthday month! :) Never too early to celebrate, especially when there's cake involved!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks for the birthday wishes, Bess! I actually baked a cake (just for fun) earlier this week but I decided to go with pie for my actual birthday--so lots of dessert to go around, I guess!

And I love that you included that verse from Proverbs. I need to be reminded of His plans and how great they are! :)

  33. Hi Hillary! I am so glad you stopped by and introduced yourself! Nice to meet you and happy blogging! :)

  34. Agreeeeeed. All day, everyday. :)

p.s. I've pretty much worn a scarf every day this week, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I do, too! I think a week is a great length for birthday celebrating although a month isn't too bad, either! :)

And cake is always good. ALWAYS.

  36. Happy birthday, Kiki! What have you been doing to celebrate? Oh, and what kind of planner do you use? I'm looking for one that also has lots of pages for notes.

What is blogilates? Sounds interesting! I'm off to find out... :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thank you, Jenna! I've been doing a lot of catching up and cleaning, oddly enough! But that doesn't include all of the yummy food I ate, the shopping I did, and the time spent enjoying the weekend (aka I didn't do any work, haha). :)

And that planner is from Target! It's Sugar Paper brand (I think it's a collab they did with Target?) and was really quite cheap for the cute design. It doesn't have tons of notes pages (probably not as many as you need) but it does the job for me! Do you have any planner recommendations?

And Blogilates is a Youtube channel/website/app with fun pilates videos! I've been doing it for 6+ months now and loooove it. Such a fun way to get a workout in and the workouts are actually really good, too (aka they burn!). :)

  38. Thanks, Kiki! I'm glad you enjoyed your bday and rested! :)
I've tried a two different planners over the years: a Lilli Pulitzer one and a Day Book Planner (I think that's the name). I haven't used a paper planner in years, though!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I've heard of Lilli Pullitzer and the Day Book Planners. I've heard they're both good ones and I'm sure they are if they passed your tests. :) Do you do a lot of planning online/on computers/phones now?

  40. Yea, I pretty much just use google calendar to keep my self in order. It gets a little crazy sometimes. Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I've thought about doing that myself! And I totally understand about the whole crazy thing. This week has been nuts, haha. :)

  42. Trying to figure out what you teach!

I'll bet your scarves are great writing prompts for your kiddos!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I actually teach preschool! But I'd love to teach older kiddos too, someday--so I'll have to keep that scarf idea in mind! :)
