A FLOWER OVERBOARD.
...and just like that, it's the end of another month. As a teacher, my mind operates on two years, the calendar year and then the school year. And right now, I'm having a really hard time believing that the school year is wrapping up.

There's been talk about graduation plans (cue Pomp and Circumstance!), summer, and then talk about next fall, too.

And yet, when I think about the calendar year, I have a hard time believing we're reaching the halfway mark pretty soon. And that summer really is just around the corner.

So for now, I'm choosing to look forward to summer while soaking up the cooler spring mornings, light drizzles, and the flowers. Because my goodness, the flowers are gorgeous.

  1. I know that two calender dilemma well haha but now i also am thinking three ways as i have to consider university calender as well. I keep saying the semester to my students who only understand term and term to my fellow students who look at my like what are you talking about.

Beautiful photos, thanks for sharing :)

  3. I just posted my month of Saturdays recap (from March...slacker that I am!)!!!! :) I loved looking over your recap!

Free books are the best! I see ARTHUR!!!! :)

    I love the little gnome!

That Joy book reminds me of I Spy! What was it like inside? Is it a review copy?

Also...The view from the summit is GORGEOUS! I've been in the mood for a good hike through the mountains!

  4. Ooh, that would be crazy to think about! Although, I actually remember it all too well, haha. :) There are too many terms for "terms" and "semesters" to keep track of! :)

  5. Target gnomes for the win! They're actually my sister's but she has almost all of our family's garden stakes/planters in the garden (which is another story in and of itself) and that gnome was calling my name. :)

  6. Free books are definitely the best. They were going to be donated so I excitedly went through the entire box and snagged my faves. You definitely spied Arthur! :)

And the Oh Joy book is a lot of fun! I got it with a giftcard and love the easy ways to just add a little joy (no pun intended) to gifts and celebrations. It's a lot like her blog, really!

And that hike was gorgeous. It's one of my favorite near-ish hikes because of the views. I hope you get a chance to go hiking soon!!!

  7. I snagged some books that were basically free over the weekend (I call 25cents a piece very cheap)!!! I got several Agatha Christies, one collection of Sherlock stories, and one called Carry On Mr. Bowditch. The last one is an old newberry award winner that I've heard a lot of good things about.

That book really does sound good! You'll have to share some of the things that you do from it!

  8. What a score! That's awesome! Was it at a garage sale or library sale or something? My library has old books for sale for 25 cents but they tend to be in bad shape and aren't really that great of books. Yours sound like great ones!

  9. Oh my goodness, Kiki! I've missed your blog … and your whimsical photography that you are just so gifted at! I love all of them! The preschool project looks adorable … what did it entail? And all the floral photos look so exquisite, especially with the aperature causing the blurry background (it is the aperature, right? I am obviously not a photographer, haha). And the forest photo with the hidden bridge makes me ache for a hike!

  11. That summit, Amelia Bedelia, your dog, and garden gnomes. I want to live in this blog post. :)

I'm not even a teacher (or student!) and my mind STILL operates on two different years. So weird how that happens, isn't it?

  12. I've missed you, too! Your words never fail to encourage me and I am so grateful for your joy-filled presence in this blog world--no exaggerations at all!

That preschool project was because we've got quite the following/attachment to those froggies. So now they're off on "vacation" until their graduation! :)

And you're right! It's all about the low aperture--it makes for the bokeh and blurry backgrounds!

  13. I miss taking them each day so I've been trying to do more of it each weekend. :)

  14. Me, too! Honestly, these were little snippets of my month--if only it could all be put into one! :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who lives in two different school years. But I could especially see that would happen if your husband was/is(?) in school, too!

  15. Love these photos! :)
    So SO talented my friend!

I LOVED the Amelia Bedilia books when I was little- and my brother still calls me Amelia Bedilia every time he calls!

  16. I wish I had your camera and eye around while we were on our recent trip in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It looks so stunning in person, but I just couldn't get the camera to translate it!

  17. Thanks, Amy! :) And Amelia Bedelia is SOOOOO good. My goodness, those books get me every. single. time. I love them!

  18. Kaysie! Hello dear friend! It's so good to hear from you! :)

And taking photos in the mountains is SO hard. To be honest, these were the best photos of the day's hike--there were outtakes, too! :) Sounds like you went to a beautiful area, though. I haven't heard of the Blue Ridge Mountains, but it sounds gorgeous!
