THAT LIGHT, THOUGH.

Not too long ago, I learned that there's this word in Japanese, Komorebi, which literally describes the sunlight that shines through leaves.

Isn't it cool how one word could so beautifully describe such an amazing phenomenon?

As soon as I learned that (through this short film), I've been taking more and more photos of that very thing. Not because I'm obsessed with the word (even though I am), but because that sunlight reminds me to really soak up the little things. The things that seem minute but help make this world the beautiful place it is.

It's the little things, right?

  1. I feel the same way about the word "meraki". It means "really loving what you do, putting all your effort and creativity into it". So beautiful!

  2. That's a great word! I loooove how there are words outside of the English language that mean so many cool things--so cool that it's hard for me to describe! :) I just saw an article on NPR about the concept --> http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4457805

  3. I really love the one of the grass. It's been raining a LOT here lately, and everything is so green. I love it.

  4. It's been rainy a lot this week, too! But then again, I do live in the Pacific Northwest, so it should be expected, haha. :) Fortunately, the greenery is a good payoff for all the wet weather!

  5. Oh my gosh! "Komorebi" I am going to have to remember that and I think I'm going to be obsessed with the word too. Those pictures are beautiful- we've been in almost consistent rainy and stormy skies for 1.5 months in CO and I'm really starting to struggle with it since I'm so used to sunshine. Your pictures gave me a little break :)

  6. 1.5 months of rainy and stormy skies? Wow, that's a looooong time! We've had grey, humid-ish weather and it's almost a little weird. :) I hope you get some sunshine for more Vitamin D soon! :)
