ON PHOTOGRAPHY.

I used to take my photo wherever I went. I used to carry that camera around my back and would get butterflies each time I pulled it out to take a photo, especially in public. It was fun to pull it out and take photos and I loved that it pushed me out of my comfort zone and challenged me creatively.

And then I got an iPhone and things changed. Having my phone with me wherever I went made it easier to take photos and yet I found myself taking fewer photos because of the convenience. I lost the desire to document and instead only took photos that were Instagram worthy (which is funny, if you know me because I hardly ever post on there!).

I was bitten by the perfection bug and I've been trying to get rid of it ever since.

Looking back, I think what I need to do is just start taking my camera out more often. Taking more photos on my camera forces me to slow down and enjoy life in front of me. I don't worry about taking up memory space or having to add filters to my photos on my Canon.

All I have to do is pull it out, turn it on, and snap some photos (after adjusting the settings, that is).

I have a camera, I have the ability to use it, and I need to use it again. I want to take some more portraits and I want to take it out so I can capture the everyday and mundane parts of life again.

So here's to getting rid of the perfection bug, carrying my camera around again, and learning to enjoy the process.
