NOVEMBER IN PHOTOS.

So many things this month. I caved in early and started playing the Christmas music the day before Thanksgiving. Normally, I'm a stickler for playing it after Thanksgiving, but I couldn't help it this year.

We had a pretty low-key Thanksgiving. It's a tradition in our family to do Thanksgiving at my family's house (Christmas at my aunt and uncle's and New Year's at my grandparents' houses). We added in some family friends and all fifteen of us fit at tables garnished with twinkly lights and all the gold we could find in our house plus Mason jars of Trader Joe's flowers, too.

Aside from that, I've been on a baking kick--and I've been all about those cakes lately, too. That bowl of cranberries and cake batter transformed itself into a cranberry apple layered cake with brown sugar buttercream. It was simply delicious (but this is still my very fave!). This new love for cake-making isn't so great for my waistline, but as my mom would say, "it's the holidays," which is basically our excuse for the entire winter season to eat a few more carbs.

I took a half-day off from work earlier this month for rest and it was simply the best mental health day ever. I got to sleep in, eat lunch with my mom, and go for a morning run, too. It felt weird not being at work (workaholic, much?) but I know it was exactly what I needed because I was refreshed and ready to go upon entering my classroom in the afternoon.

This month was full. But so good. I've felt more centered, for lack of a better word, than I have in a long time and it's good to feel more like myself again. And I'll definitely credit baking and running for all of that.

How was your Thanksgiving? What did you learn/see/do this month?
