Weekend adventures are truly my favorite. There's something about a spontaneous weekend adventure to the mountains that soothes my soul. I spend my weekdays filled with routines, planners, and a pretty consistent/rigid schedule (kids thrive off of routine, after all).
The longer I work/teach, the easier I find myself getting stuck in the mundane tasks of the everyday. There's nothing wrong with it, but it can be hard to always find joy and excitement when your days look pretty much the same (well, except for the surprise sicknesses and hilarious kid quotes!).
So weekend adventuring is where it's at. This past weekend, my parents and I hopped into the car and drove to the mountains. We hiked in the snow, watched as cars slid and skid, and enjoyed getting a breath of fresh (and chilly!) air.
