LIFE LATELY.

Getting back into the swing of things has proven to be a lot harder than I expected. While it's all been good, life lately has been busy and really full. Part of me wants the same freedoms of summer but I'm now squeezing all my social time into evenings after work. Which, in retrospect, was not my wisest idea for the first week back at school. Let's just say I accidentally slept in and felt a cold coming on (thanks to Vitamin C and Elderberry syrup, this girl is doing alright).

I'm in a new classroom with a new assistant teacher this year and it's exciting to be in a new space, with new decorations, and a new perspective. It's still hard to wake up each morning (especially since it's dark) but it was fun to meet kids, go on home visits, and catch up with co-workers.

As I'm sure most people do, we always start off our first staff meeting of the year talking about our summers. And I tend to dread that question because my answers always seem so boring from the outside. But I've been trying to change up how I talk about my summer and as I looked through my calendar and journal, I'm proud of what I got done, even if it didn't include any spectacular far-off travel plans to other countries.

When it comes down to it, I'm learning that you make the life you want. And you don't have to do anything big and extravagant to have an exciting life. Aside from day trips with family/friends, I stayed at home for the entire summer and it was spectacular. It wasn't the destinations that made it spectacular, but the people and the life that was lived in each day during those couple months.

I know I'm rambling, but I guess I just want to say that life lately is good. Full, but good. I'm trying to re-learn how to balance and maintain a life outside of work while still ensuring I have time and make time to rest and recuperate after long days at work. That said, any and alllllll advice/tips are welcome!

What's life like for you lately??
