A LETTER FOR A FRIEND.

Hey you,

I've been wanting to tell you a few things for some time now, but the moment just hasn't been there...until now. If we had a chance to sit down, face-to-face over a cup of coffee (or tea, for me), I'm sure we'd spend some time chatting about life and work and the like, but pretty soon after that, I know we'd dig deep. That's just the kind of people we are, after all.

I've gone back and forth, back and forth on telling you these things, but I think you need to hear them today. I'm not sure what life has you, what kind of season you're in, but I have a feeling that deep down, these words will hit home in some way, shape, or form.

I hope you know that what you do doesn't matter in the long run. It may seem like everyone else has everything going for them, that everything else is all puppies and daisies and rainbows, but that's really not the case. We've grown up in a world that knows how to put on different faces and we're not so great at letting people in. I think, if you took the time to dig deeper with others and let others in, you'd realize that nobody has it all figured out. I sure don't! People have always told me that I'm perfect and yet I know that deep down, I have the same questions as the person next to me. We're all wondering what the future holds, where God will take us next. The question I'm wrestling with right now is where God wants me in the next year or so--and the truthful answer is I don't know. Not yet, at least. But I'm learning to find peace in surrender and trying to practice the art of letting go.

I know that He's got a plan for me and He as a great plan for you, too.

What matters more right now is that God's working in you. That you're learning to trust and depend on Him, believing in His faithfulness and sovereignty in your life. I'd much rather you be someone who's dependent on God than dependent on yourself and your job/career path. I hope you know that I think you're one of a kind and that you're lovable, too. I truly value our friendship and wouldn't say this to just anyone, either. Your value is not dependent on who you are or what you do, but WHOSE you are. You are loved, sought after, and created by God.

I hope you take some time in the near future to let go of whatever is holding you back. I hope you realize that you deserve more than you think you do. I hope you realize that sometimes part of waiting means doing and being proactive. I hope you know that you've got a bunch of people who have your back and want to see you filled with happiness and joy.

And I'm one of them.

Love,
me.
