WORD OF THE YEAR | 2022

New year, new me? Except, I really am the same person...just someone who's grown and found a new version of herself after the crazy few years we've all endured.
I've felt the pressure over the past few years to have my word picked out by the time twelve strikes midnight on January 1st. But this year, I didn't feel like the pressure to have it figured out, partially because I believe the pandemic has changed all of our expectations in the new year but also because I've discovered what it means to be gentle and gracious with myself. I don't have to have it all figured out.

So this year, my words are ENJOY and EMBRACE. My indecisive self just couldn't pick one this year but ultimately, I feel like these two words go hand-in-hand. My overarching hope for 2022 is to slow down and savor the present and to be gentler with myself and others. After last year, I discovered the strength and love that it takes to practice gentleness and it's something I want to continue to do moving forward.

So here's to a year of...

Embracing the current season God places me in.
Enjoying the present moment.
Embracing all my feelings and emotions.
Enjoying life instead of pushing through, rushing past, or comparing with others.
Embracing the relationships and friendships I've got.
Enjoying the ordinary and mundane, or the little things in life.
Embracing my body and appearance.
Enjoying a life with less screen time/social media.
Embracing the tough and rough patches in life.
Enjoying the silence and quiet moments in life.
Embracing both the similarities and differences I have with others.
Enjoying more of God's creation.
Embracing God's love and grace.
And enjoying all that I have and have been given.

I want to take this year to seek joy and grace, move a little slower, and give myself and others a lot more gentleness and love. I want this year to be a year of hope and peace and pray that over your year as well.

p.s. Here's a list of my words from over the years -- it's hard to believe that I've been doing this for almost ten years now!
